In the morning, the tour guide will be waiting for you in the hotel lobby, then you will be driven 40 minutes to Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center where you can have a close encounter with adorable pandas. Arrive early to make the most of your visit. The base opens at 7:30 AM, and arriving early will help you avoid the large crowds. Head straight to the main panda enclosures to see the giant pandas. Early morning is the best time to see them active as they are fed around this time. Visit the Panda Kindergarten where you can see young panda cubs. This is a highlight for many visitors as the cubs are very playful and cute. Walk over to the red panda enclosures to see these smaller, more active animals. They are usually easier to spot in the trees and on the ground

Conclude your visit and prepare to leave the base. If you have extra time, consider visiting nearby attractions or enjoy a meal at a local restaurant.

The Panda Base opens at 7:30 am, and the timing of the visit can be adjusted according to your situation.
You can choose to participate in the Panda Volunteer Program at Dujiangyan, where you'll assist the keepers in preparing food for the pandas, get an up-close view of the feeding process, and receive a special certificate of appreciation for caring for the pandas.

“Epic Layover Experience”
I had a 16 hour layover in Chengdu and was deciding whether to tour it myself or book with a guide (it is my first time using this site). My usual option is self-exploration, but with the limited time and my limited knowledge of the language and area, I chose to go with Jason! I was not disappointed. Jason was waiting for me at the airport with a sign, a nice set of wheels, and his friendly buddy/driver, Kevin. Immediately, I was putting Jason's depth of knowledge to the test. Asking endless questions (in english), from the airport to the panda center. He navigated them smoothly, which I found foreshadowed our day together. I really enjoyed walking the panda center and learning about its history and inhabitants from Jason. He spoke with a passion for it and I could tell he enjoys sharing his knowledge. After a stellar, local lunch, I was dropped at a spot to work remote for a few hours before continuing our tour. I really appreciated this flexibility. Before dropping me back at the airport, Jason took me to a night market, where Kevin joined us for some hotpot. They both spoke on the tradition of the meal, the market, and the community and I was able to learn more about them. It was an enjoyable day and I'm glad I chose not to go it alone.
