Chongqing is a true food capital, but the real magic isn't in crowded tourist spots. The best flavors hide in alleys and unmarked shops only locals know. You just need someone to show you where.

That's me — Isa, your local food-loving friend. No battling hills, no getting lost, no queuing with tourists. From family-run hotpot to street cart noodles, every bite tells Chongqing's fiery soul.

Forget the Instagram lines. Let's eat like a local. Your only job? Come hungry hhh.

Meeting Point

People’s Liberation Monument

- Our meeting point is Jiefangbei (also known as the People’s Liberation Monument), a true landmark of Chongqing. Once you arrive at the monument, please stay in touch with your guide so we can get the tour started smoothly.

People’s Liberation Monument

We’ll start our food journey at Jiefangbei(People’s Liberation Monument), the iconic heart of Chongqing. Instead of crowded tourist hotspots and trendy online-famous spots, I will take you into hidden local alleys. Here, we can taste authentic street snacks favored by real locals.

Away from the bustling crowds, you’ll dive straight into Chongqing’s most genuine everyday food culture.

Jiaochangkou

Throughout this journey, we’ll do more than just savor the local flavors. We’ll also uncover the deep connection between Chongqing locals and their food—how these dishes play an important role in everyday life, and the precious historical memories they carry for the people here.

Bayi Road

During this tour, we’ll get to taste 3 to 4 kinds of local specialty snacks—unique little bites you can only find in Chongqing. Then, we’ll sit down to enjoy either hotpot or Sichuan cuisine for our dinner of the day.

Ending Point

About Tour Guide Isa Z.

Hi, I'm Isa— a licensed tour guide (English & Chinese) and a proud Chongqing native.

I know this city inside and out, from its deep history and hidden cultural gems to the futuristic cyberpunk vibes that make it so unique. And of course, I know exactly where to find the best mouth-numbing, heartwarming spicy food.

To me, guiding is so much more than showing people around — it's about creating real connections. I never see my guests as just "clients." I see them as friends who've traveled a long way to meet me, and I truly care about making your time here special.

If you're ready to explore Chongqing like a local, I'd love to be your guide. Let's have some fun together!

Reviews

Full day tour

My friend and I booked a full day tour with Isa to help us maximize our short time in chongqing and it was 10/10. Isa is a born and raised local whose family also hails from this area for many generations, and so she has a deep and personal knowledge of the city and it's many facets. Before the tour we told her what kind of things we wanted to focus on and she totally nailed it. Almost every spot was a place we would have never thought to go to otherwise despite our research, and she added really interesting context at each site. During travel we learned a lot about the lived experiences of her family over the city's past, which added a dimension to the trip we, obviously, would never have gotten otherwise. She was also super helpful with recommendations for what to do outside the tour, recommending a really good restaurant for a specific dish we wanted to eat, a store for a present I wanted to get for my family and an art museum with a really great seasonal exhibition on the outskirts of the central city. Our experience of chongqing would be materially worse without our tour. We would recommend booking a tour with her in the strongest possible terms to anyone we know travelling to chongqing.

Hey Sayan, thank you so much! Your review honestly made my day, I'm really glad you enjoyed the spots we visited, and that the local stories and background added something extra to your experience. And honestly, I loved how curious you were about China and its culture, that made our time together all the more fun. I'm also thrilled that the restaurant, shop, and museum tips came in handy – glad they worked out so well for you! You guys were awesome company, and I'd really love to see you again if you ever make it back this way. Till then, take care and keep having amazing adventures! :D

Wonderful time with Isa

Isa was an incredible guide and host. Before the tour, I told her I was hoping for a mix of local Chongqing experiences and some of the more well-known tourist sites, and she planned the day perfectly. She helped me see the city in a way that felt both authentic and memorable. What made the experience especially meaningful was Isa herself. I let her know that I have been learning Chinese, and throughout the day she was incredibly patient and kind, speaking with me in Mandarin and helping me practice. It made the experience feel much more personal. Chongqing is an amazing city, but the memories that will stay with me most are the conversations I had with Isa and the chance to get to know her. By the end of the day, I truly felt like I was leaving Chongqing with a new friend. I could not recommend her more highly. Thanks for everything, Isa!

Thank you for your lovely review – I really appreciate it. I'm so grateful we got to meet, and I often think about how this job brings me such wonderful, unexpected connections. Meeting you was definitely one of those special moments. I hope your Chinese keeps getting better and better – you're doing great! And I wish you all the best in Miami – may everything go smoothly and happily for you there. Take care and stay in touch!
