The East-West Coastline Traverse in Shenzhen, stretching approximately 6 kilometers, is renowned as one of China's ten most beautiful coastlines as recognized by National Geographic. Starting from Dongchong Community Workstation and ending at Xichong Beach, this route offers breathtaking ocean views and diverse natural landscapes.

Dongchong Community Workstation
Begin the journey. Pass by Dongchong Wetland Park and follow the mountain path toward the coastline.
Coastal Path: Dongchong to Xichong
Enter the coastal section, featuring rugged cliffs, sandy beaches, and turquoise waters.
Lunch Break/ Shenzhen Observatory
There are few stores on the way for snacks or instant noodles. We can aslo bring our own lunch box.
At Observatory (optional visit). Climb the stairs to the observatory deck for panoramic views (reservation required via the "iShenzhen" app for indoor access).
Reef Zone: Chuanbi Rock Section
Navigate through tidal pools and jagged reefs. Exercise caution on slippery rocks.
Xichong Beach No.4
Reach Xichong Beach. Enjoy a picnic or purchase snacks from vendors. Rest for 1 hour.

Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen and wear a hat, sunglasses, and long sleeves.
Footwear: Use hiking shoes with good grip.
Hydration: Carry at least 2 liters of water. Refill at designated points.
Gloves: Recommended for rope-assisted sections to avoid hand abrasions.
Emergency: Purchase travel insurance and inform someone of your itinerary.
Rest Stops: 6-8 补给 points along the route selling drinks, snacks, and fast food.
Toilets: Available at the starting point (Dongchong) and Xichong Beach.

She gave us an exciting opportunity of exploring Hong Kong starting from the Ocean Terminal to Victoria Peak by Peak Tram, and later by visiting Tsim Sha Tsui Pier for Victoria Harbour, iconic Building of K11, The Peninsula Hotel, Causeway Bay etc. She explained us many details about local customs and traditions. “Fun tour with knowledgeable guide!”
It was a fun and informative day touring Shenzhen with Dora! I opted for her proposed itinerary, which she sent a few days in advanced and asked if I had any feedback or requests. I went with the prescribed itinerary and it was great to visit sights I wouldn't have known about or been confident enough to visit as a solo-traveler on a tight schedule who can't read or speak Chinese. It's difficult to reconcile names & addresses between Chinese and English on-the-fly (good luck with that...google does not work in China without VPN workarounds anyways) so it was enjoyable for me to not have to stress about navigation for an entire day. The food and drink choices were excellent! As I was travelling for work, I also got tons of advice on business culture, sourcing, and manufacturing in China thanks to her years of experience in the industry and working with westerners. She was also super helpful with the myriad of smartphone apps that you *must* have installed to even exist in China (i.e. wepay, alipay, metro & ticketing, DiDi ridesharing) which are surprisingly hard to setup or understand. Dora is young and therefore very adept and insightful about all of the new tech and trends that make Shenzhen the most high-tech city in the world. I would highly recommend her guided tour to anybody coming to China for the first time, and not just for sightseeing—the learnings are guaranteed to make the rest of your trip easier.
