The substructures of Diocletian's palace
Here I'll explain to you why and how the substructures were built, how they have been preserved, and the stories these ancient halls reveal about the palace. Visiting the full substructure is also possibe and requires a separate entrance fee.

At this stop, we’ll admire the Cathedral from the side as I share the story of how the emperor’s mausoleum was transformed into a Christian cathedral. We’ll also see the Silver Gate and how the Romans connected the palace’s major gates
Walk through the narrow alleys
After the Silver gate we'll go through the narrow streets and see how the people living in Split made the palace walls part of their homes
Golden gate and Gregory of Nin
The Golden Gate is the grand northern entrance to Diocletian’s Palace. It stands as a striking example of Roman architecture, in front of it is the statue of Gregory of Nin, a symbol of our heritage and language.
Pjaca, the people's square
After we leave the palace it is time to visit the medieval main square of Split. Pjaca is a beautiful square that was created as the city expanded beyond the palace walls. Surrounded by elegant Venetian and Gothic buildings, Pjaca has long been a hub of everyday life.
Fruit square and Riva
Visiting Fruit Square, known for its blend of Renaissance and Baroque architecture and its peaceful atmosphere, we’ll also see the statue of Marko Marulić, the father of Croatian literature.
