Hidden Prague: Legends, Underground, Alchemy Museum, & a Thief's Arm in a Church
A 17th-century alchemy laboratory, sealed up for 400 years and rediscovered by accident in 2002.
Medieval cellars 7 metres below the Old Town, where Prague's first city lies buried.
A small church where a human arm has hung from a chain since 1602 — blackened, untouched, impossible to remove.
The lanes most tourists never find. The legends most guides never tell.
Two hours into the side of Prague no guidebook prints.
Private tour just for you. Top-category guide. 17 years of guiding experience.

Meeting Point
Meeting Point
- Start time is fully flexible — just message me, and we'll arrange a time that works for you. We meet at the main entrance of the Czech National Bank (Česká národní banka) — a large grey building directly opposite the Gothic Powder Tower. The Powder Tower is the tallest medieval gateway in this part of the city; you cannot miss it. Meeting Point Address: Na Příkopě 864/28, 110 00 Nové Město I'll be waiting with a "Hidden Prague" sign. Please arrive 5 minutes early so we can start on time.
Powder Tower
We start at the 500-year-old Powder Tower, where every Czech king walked on his coronation day. Most tour groups go right toward the postcard view. We go a different way. Within two minutes, we're in a part of the Old Town 95% of tourists never see. This is where Hidden Prague begins.
The Old Town
Medieval lanes that have looked the same for 700 years. Quiet courtyards. A chapel hidden inside an ordinary building. A 14th-century pub still pouring beer the way it did during the Thirty Years' War. And the merchant signs above doorways — a golden swan, a stone lion, a black eagle — each one a code: who lived there, who could be trusted, who was hiding from the church.
Down Into the Medieval Underground
A heavy wooden door. A steep stone staircase. Suddenly we're 7 metres below the modern street — and 800 years back in time. This is the original 12th-century city, buried when the Old Town was raised after the medieval floods. The walls, the air, the silence — everything here belongs to a Prague that disappeared eight centuries ago.
The Church With the 400-Year-Old Arm
A small church that looks ordinary from outside. Inside hangs something that exists nowhere else in Europe.
A human arm. Real. Hanging from a chain since 1602. Blackened, untouched, impossible to remove.
I'll tell you what happened in this church on a winter night in 1602 — and why the arm is still there.
(Entry paid on site — small fee.)
The Lost Alchemists' Laboratory
In 2002, a worker repairing flood damage stepped on a wooden floor that gave way beneath him. Below — a sealed staircase. Below the staircase — a complete Renaissance alchemy laboratory, untouched since the 1600s.
We descend into it. The original ovens, the hidden tunnels that once connected this lab to Prague Castle, the niches where formulas were kept safe from the church's spies. This is where Emperor Rudolf II's alchemists searched for the philosopher's stone, the elixir of life, and the secret of immortality.
I'll tell you what they found — and what they didn't.
(Entry paid on site. Cash only - CZK, EUR or USD)
Old Town Square
The most famous square in Prague — and the side of it most tours leave out.
The 27 white crosses set into the ground, where 27 Czech noblemen were beheaded in 1621, in front of a crowd of thousands. Tycho Brahe's grave in the Týn Cathedral — the astronomer who lost his nose in a duel and wore a metal one for the rest of his life. The Baroque columns, the Gothic spires, the medieval pavement — and the corners where, for centuries, the most important moments in Czech history played out.
The Cursed Clock
The Astronomical Clock has been working since 1410. Most tours tell you it's beautiful and old.
I tell you who built it. What happened to him afterwards. And why, for 600 years, people in Prague have whispered that the clock is cursed.
The clock chimes. We watch the show. And then I tell you the part of the story that doesn't make it onto the postcards.
Ending Point
The Old Town Square

About Tour Guide Uliana F.
Hi, I'm Uliana — a licensed top-category Prague guide with 17 years of experience and over 10,000 happy guests from around the world.
I offer private tours only — just your group, no strangers, no rushing through landmarks with thirty other tourists. Whether you have three hours or three days, every tour I create is built around what fascinates YOU: history, architecture, food, photography, hidden corners, mystical legends, or simply the pleasure of walking through one of Europe's most beautiful cities with someone who truly knows it.
What I offer:
- Classic walking tours of Old Town, Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, the Jewish Quarter
- Hidden Prague — medieval cellars, secret passages, alchemy, ghosts and legends
- Day trips from Prague to fairy-tale castles and UNESCO towns: Český Krumlov, Karlštejn, Kutná Hora, Karlovy Vary, Terezín, and more
- Themed experiences: Czech beer culture, traditional cuisine, Art Nouveau, Jewish heritage
About me: I'm certified by the Czech Ministry of Education (top category — the highest qualification level for guides in the Czech Republic), a member of the Prague and Czech Guides Association, and I'm fluent in English, Russian, and Czech.
What makes my tours different? I don't read from a script. I read the people in front of me. If you're a history buff, we'll go deep. If you're traveling with kids, we'll find the dragon hiding inside the Astronomical Clock. If you only have one day in Prague, I'll show you the city's soul — not just its surface.
Send me a message and tell me what you're hoping to see — I'll design a tour that fits your interests, your pace, and your time.
See you in Prague!
