Ecuador is a very religious country. His faith has crossed borders so much that the sanctuary of Las Lajas is visited daily by Catholic believers from Ecuador. People have great faith in the Virgin of Las Lajas and show their favors are the thousands of pictures that are stuck on the rocks around the church. It is almost a tradition that entire families visit the Sanctuary on more than one occasion.

Quito
I will pick you up from your hotel very early in the morning. Remembering, We have to drive for around 5 hours from quito until to get Las Lajas Sanctuary.
Las Lajas Sanctuary
We have to walk down from the parking lot, the acces to get to the church is not difficult. We can listen the service or walk arounc and take pictures.
There is a museum where we can see claypots parts of an old tribe there. We can walk in a small chapel under the main church with very pretty staingalsses.
If you need we can get some food here, there is not a big choice.
We could spend in this place between 1 or 2 hours easily. All depends on you.
Cable car
There is a cable car to enjoy the view of the Sanctuary from the cable car. It is a good way to avoid the walking up to get to the car.
If you choose to take the cable car, I will be waiting for you at the station to pick you up.
Tulcán cemetery with a topiary art
One We leave Las Lajas , We will go straight to the cemetery in Tulcan. The shapes made in cypress are really interesting , they are representing precolumbian art, animals and birds of Ecuador.
If you are hungry let me know to look for a place where We can get some of food.
Return to Quito
Once we finish our tour in Tulcan We start returning Quito, it will take 5 hours.

Discover Ecuador - nature, people, history, culinary delights. We have an amazing vacation in Ecuador with our guide Gustavo.
