“An Unforgettable Day in Quito with Gustavo – One of the Best Guides We’ve Ever Ha”
Gustavo was easily one of the best guides we have ever had—and we have traveled extensively over the years. We had one day in Quito before leaving for our Galápagos cruise, and my wife had two things she really wanted to do: see the hummingbirds in Mindo and visit an indigenous artisans market. After some back-and-forth communication before our arrival, Gustavo put together a custom itinerary that accomplished both and turned the day into so much more than we expected. Along the way, he surprised us with a visit to Quito’s incredible Basilica and even made an impromptu stop at a fantastic empanada restaurant after overhearing my wife mention how much she loves empanadas. We absolutely devoured them! It was a small gesture, but it perfectly illustrates what makes Gustavo such a great guide—he listens to his guests and genuinely wants them to have a memorable experience. What really set Gustavo apart, though, was his personality. Within minutes, it felt like we were spending the day with a friend we had known for years. He is extremely funny, personable, and engaging, and his English is excellent. His knowledge of Quito, Ecuador, its culture, history, and wildlife far exceeded our expectations. During the day, we also learned that Gustavo is a naturalist guide who leads groups into the Amazon. By the end of our time together, our only regret was that we hadn’t planned to spend more days in Quito with him. Had we known beforehand how good he was, we absolutely would have. If you are looking for a guide in Quito or Ecuador, I cannot recommend Gustavo highly enough. A great guide can make a destination come alive, and Gustavo did exactly that. He didn’t simply show us Ecuador—he made us want to come back and experience more of it. Without question, one of the very best guides we have encountered anywhere in the world.

Walter and Barbara were excellent clients. This was a tour in which we had a nice connection with a very nice atmosphere for the whole time. Once we decided how we wanted to lead the tour, it was just fantastic how we could manage to accomplish each of their interests in such a relatively short time. They were the kind of clients that want to have a good time, learn and enjoy as much as possible, and so it was! Thank you, Walter and Barbara for enjoying this part of Ecuador, and for having me let be part of this experience. Cheers! Gus.
