“Garbage city and City of the Dead with Aton M.”
My tour with Aton M. was highly unusual. While he is undoubtedly punctual and knowledgeable, the overall experience felt rushed and restrictive. The Tour (2 hours, not 5): The tour was significantly shorter than the advertised 5 hours. We were driven to the Cave Church and the City of the Dead, but we were not allowed to get out of the car to explore either location properly. The sightseeing was done almost entirely through the car windows. The vehicle was fine, though it lacked air conditioning; this was explained as a way for us to "fully experience the aromas" of the area we were driving through. The Guide: Aton has a unique and forceful communication style. Be prepared for a voice that is "two tones higher than you're anticipating" and frequent commands to "listen to me carefully." If you can adjust to this manner, you will find he is very informed. Verdict: This tour was acceptable for me as I was exhausted from a long bus ride, but I would not recommend it to anyone expecting a hands-on, in-depth exploration of these sites.
Aton M.
Thank you for your message, my friend. I hope to see you again in Egypt, but I hope that time you will not be tired so you have enough time so that I can spend the whole day with you, or at least five hours, not two hours like this time. Sunny regards, Aton
