This is a half-day city tour of Addis Ababa suited for travelers with short stay in Addis Ababa. This tour includes a visit to the historic St. George Church where the last Ethiopian emperor, Haile Selassie I was crowned in 1930. Then the next stop will be the largest open-air market in Africa, 'Mercato' that has the size of a small town. There is a part of 'Mercato' where you're able to walk and do some shopping. Also, you have chance to visit one of the coffee places at the end of the tour.

Meeting Point

At your hotel or at the airport

- We will pick you up from the airport if you are only arriving in Addis Ababa. I will contact you from outside the terminal near hotel taxis parking lot carrying your name. Or, if you already booked a hotel in Addis Ababa for an overnight stay, I will be able to meet you through the hotel representative in the terminal as some of the hotels have a desk inside the terminal and can have their representatives assigned there. Alternately, it is possible to meet at the hotel lobby if you are already out of the terminal on your own.

Visit to St George's Church

You will be picked up from the hotel if you are already in Addis Ababa, or you will be picked up from the airport on arrival. Then we will drive to St George's Church where the Last Ethiopian Emperor, Haile Selassie I was coronated and spend the time visiting the church and its museum with a variety of liturgical and historical collections that date before the current church had been built.

Visit of The Largest Open-Air Market, ' Mercato'

We drive to 'Mercato', the largest open-air market in Africa with the size of a small town that is busy from Monday to Saturday where the residents of Addis Ababa visit for shopping and spend 1:30 Hours at the market. This market is where you find literally everything, from textiles to electronic and household utensils to machineries to vegetables etc. It is fun to see all the transaction and activities taking place out in the open.

Coffee Stop and Drop Off

On the way back from the market we will make a short stop (depending on the time left) at one of the busy corners of Addis Ababa for a taste of Ethiopian traditional coffee before we drop you off to your hotel or airport

This tour includes a visit to an Ethiopian Church, so you will have to take off your shoes while entering the church. Also, it is not customary to wear shorts or miniskirts while visiting a church.

It is possible to be inside the vehicle during your visit to the market if you have health issues and are unable to walk.
