About Tour Guide Ewan G.

I am a British artist and filmmaker based in Paris, where I have spent the past six years exploring the city's relationship with the avant-garde. My background is in the history and philosophy of art, with a focus on cinema and digital media—research I pursued at the University of Kent and during a residency at Le Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains. For me, Paris is more than a backdrop; it is a subject of constant study. When I am not filming or editing, I spend my time researching the hidden narratives of the city, from the haunts of the New Wave filmmakers to the radical ideas of the Situationists.

My walks are informal but deeply informed conversations. We move away from the standard landmarks to look at how the city has been shaped by the thinkers, writers, and filmmakers who saw Paris as a living text. I don't just share history; I enjoy discussing how the city’s architecture and cultural heritage influence our perspective today. Whether we are exploring iconic film locations through a director's eye or tracing the "layers" of a neighborhood's memory, I offer a perspective that combines historical context with a filmmaker’s eye for detail. I look forward to sharing a different, deeper side of Paris with you.
