First meeting with the river

Expeditions generally run from downstream to upstream. We will look for traces of the river in the urban environment, including confluences with the Mtkvari River (the main riparian artery of Tbilisi).

Exploring along the river valley

The rivers of Tbilisi tend to emerge and disappear in and out of gorges, which are often wild, overgrown, or filled with trash. We will keep a close eye out for these natural corridors as they appear in the urban environment, and when possible, enter them to evaluate their health and condition.

Lunch at a local bakery

As we wander through the outer neighborhoods, we will find a local spot for refreshments (not included in tour price, but fairly cheap).

The wilderness at the edge of the city

By following the river to the edge of town, we will reach the liminal areas where the urban fabric blends into the wilderness. As Tbilisi is located in a large valley and we will be following streams uphill, there should be good views from here.
