If you have ever wanted to get out of the big city, because you've now seen Budapest enough times, this is the day trip for you: combining urban with natural landscapes in one of the most scenic areas of Hungary: the Danube Bend, that is, the place where the Danube twists and turns and takes a 90 degree direction southwards. This are has in recent years become popular not only for locals, but tourists as well. Nevertheless it's a must see, if you want to escape Budapest for a day.

Our first stop is the charming little town of Szentendre, just outside of northern Budapest. It is famous for its artistic scenery (called the city of painters) and its Mediterranean (Serbian) atmosphere. We will take a stroll along it's cobble stoned and winding streets, then walk up to the church on the hill via the old town center and take a coffee or snack somewhere in the old city.
We continue our journey to Dobogókő (“stepping stone”), an important hiking area in the Pilis mountain range, just north-northwest of Budapest. I want you to experience our natural attractions a little bit as well, although I personally am not much of a hiker because of insufficient time for that. We will walk along one of the marked ways for about 800m - 1 km and have a coffe or something to drink before continuing our journey.
We continue our journey to Esztergom, another temporary capital of medieval Hungary. Esztergom is known for being the center of the Catholic church in Hungary and for its picturesque cathedral, which is the highest/largest in the country. We will visit the cathedral including the lower church and the dome lookout. After finishing the visit, we will have lunch in the city.
We drive over to Visegrad, the former summer royal seat during the reign of king Matthias (15th c). The plan here is to see a little bit of the village and then visit the citadel ruins for another breathtaking view of the Danube.
Our last stop will be Vac, for which we also need to take a ferry. Because of this we may experience some delays in getting there, but it's the only way to use. Vac is a unique baroque city in Hungary, where we will visit the main square (which is everything but a square) and some unique attractions. We can have a last drink or snack in the city, before returning to Budapest.

The time frame is a projected time frame. We may experience deviations from it depending on our pace, possibilities, weather and other circumstances. We will be using my Mazda 6 which is a fairly large vehicle and we can fit 4 people + driver fairly comfortably into it. We can also skip one or the other stop, should it be too much.
Currently I am only available for this on weekends and always ask in advance
As of June 2023 I will be working full-time as a guide, so feel free to contact me for tours and questions. I am more than happy to personalize tours for you as well.
Szia! Hi! Hallo! Ceau!
My name is Tiberiu(s), or Tibi for short, and I am an IT Service Manager who found his passion in tour guiding over 5 years ago.
With late-afternoon and weekend availability (full time as of June), I am more than excited to take you on a mini-journey, including not only the main attractions of the city, but also the lesser-known ones including some tastings. I am also more than happy to adapt the tours to your needs and we may even go outside of the city, if you'd like to, since I own a car. I am also available for one or the other daytrip in or outside of Budapest, just let me know about 1-2 weeks in advance, so I can plan my schedule accordingly.
Before booking though, please contact me online in advance, just to make sure.
"In the end... we only regret the chances we didn't take" (Lewis Caroll)
I want to make memories for people from all over the world! And most important of all, I like to give them an actual taste of our city. You just can't visit Hungary and not try some of our traditional foods (not for veggies or vegans though).
Hope to meet you soon and "Viszlát", as we say in Hungarian!
“Excellent choice for a niche tour”
Tiberiu was very knowledge of the town of Szentendre and made his knowledge accessible to our group. He was very precise with his route and made the best of our limited time. Before hand he was also very helpful and communicative. I sincerely recommend Tiberiu.
