Szentendre - small and spectacular city of artists
Located north from Budapest ca. half an hour drive. It captivates visitors primarily with its art and culture. Szentendre is located at the gate of the Dunakanyar (Danube Bend), right next to the river Duna.It is full of museums and galleries, one of the artists’ colonies was established here.
The city is also well known for its Serbian residents, we can find altogether 6 Serbian orthodox churches in this small city.
The city also had tradition of wine culture preserved in street names.

Meeting Point
Battyhány Square
- We take HÉV (local railway) going out of the city to Szentendre. Battyhány Square can be accessed by metro line no. 2 (red line) or trams no. 19 or 41. or buses no. 11 or 39.
Szentendre
From the station we walk into the city. There we roame the streets learning about the history of the city and looking at colourful old houses, ortodox churches, museums, going down to riverside. You will have some free time to have an icecream or coffe in one of the cafés or restaurants.

We go home by local railway.

Walking tour on Pest side - history and art nouveau
Széchenyi and Szabadság Squares are among Pest side’s downtown most elegant part. Their history reflects the whole city’s history. In addition quite a few beautiful art nouveau buildings can be found nearby. We will enter Gresham Palace, currently member of Four Seasons hotel-chain, the most luxurious hotel of Budapest, facing Chain Bridge. We will also see the most beautiful art nouveau building of Budapest, the Postal Savings Bank. We will finish with panorama from rooftop of opposite hotel.

We start from Holy Trinity Square, in front of Mathias Church. Behind the church from Fishermen's Bastion you can admire the panorama. We proceed towards Dísz tér, Carmelite Monastery, Alexander Palace, funicular. We walk among Royal Palace buildings, another stunning view from Savoya Terrace, in front of palaces. You will hear interesting story of Mathias Fountain. We peek into Lion's Courtyard and go back on Tóth Árpád promenade, from where you can enjoy the view of Buda Hills.

During a 4-hour walking tour on the Pest side we start on Hero's Square with City Park behind, Széchenyi Bath, Vajdahunyad Castle, old underground journey. Andrássy Avenue, Kodály Round Square, Oktogon Square, Opera House, Deák Square, visit St. Stephen Basilica, Széchenyi Square, enjoying panorama of Buda side, pass by National Academy, Szabadság (Liberty) Square, passing by some art nouveau buildings. It is Feb. 1945, the Siege of Budapest is reaching its dramatic finale. One desperate act remains: The Breakout. This walk will take you to Feb. 11th 1945, with events and locations brought to life. Up until late 1944, Budapest had remained largely unscathed. This was to change with Soviet and Axis forces fighting to the last man. Casualties in the hundreds of thousands and 20% of the City destroyed, this walk will bring to life the final days where 40,000 Axis soldiers try to break the siege.

The Great Synagogue Tour of Budapest
We are going to visit the Jewish Quarter and the Dohány Street Synagogue and its interior. We will see the Raoul Wallenberg Park- Holocaust Memorial Park with the Tree of Life and the Temple of Heroes (outside visit), the Rumbach Synagogue (outside visit), the Carl Lutz Memorial. In the Orthodox Jewish Quarter we will see the Kazinczy Street Synagogue (inside visit) and finally have a typical Jewish cake and coffee in a Jewish confectionary.
