Sumba Ikat Weaving is a tradition in Nusa Tenggara. All Sumba ikat fabrics are made entirely from plants. Every piece of Sumba woven cloth that is ready to use has 42 stages of work process and can not be done alone, and it needs a complex and lengthy process to produce a large piece of ikat woven fabric. Different from factory-made cloth, all work is done manually. A large size piece of cloth requires 2 to 3 month, even 5 months' work.
See the last whale hunter on planet. The village of Lamalera on Flores is the home of traditional whale hunting. Villagers hunt large sea animals, like whales, and sometimes dolphins to provide food and a living for the entire village.
