It is a “colorful” day within the heart of the Lower Galilee, specially made for those who want to get the best of what this region can offer. You are expected to experience the cultural, nature, historical and religious sides of Galilee and take great memories and pictures of this area back home. But most importantly, you will be escorted by a great fellow who will make it fun, friendly, informational and somehow spiritual. So, Galilee, its people and shrines are waiting for you …
This itinerary can be customized to meet your needs and preferences. Send me a message with your requests!
Meeting Point
It is quite flexible. You may decide to meet at your hotel or any meeting point within 40 km from Nazareth such as Haifa, Tiberias, or Nazareth itself or be collected from a cruise ship in Haifa Port
Mount Tabor
Start your journey to ramp atop of Mt. Tabor and view the eastern side of Galilee. There you will be delighted with a panoramic view overlooking the Galilee mountains, the Gilead and the Jezreel Plains, all from one spot. By standing there, you will hear a brief history of this important mountain and its surrounding area and it will be a great opportunity also to reflect on the climax event of the Lord Jesus’ Transfiguration. The church, commemorating this event, is built to reflect this event.
Cana of Galilee
Then make a drive to Cana of Galilee to stop by the starting point of Jesus’ Ministry and rewind your memory on the wine miracle. The story has its special “taste” and meaning, that you may want to discover. And do not leave Cana before enjoying a toast of the local Cana wine and/or a glass of local pomegranate juice. You can't get it better than in Cana.
Nazareth St. Gabriel Church
Drive up to Nazareth. It is where the New Covenant started when the "Word was made flesh" (John 1:14). Start with a visit to the Greek Orthodox St. Gabriel Church, built over the spring that Virgin May was commonly visiting to fill her pitcher.
Nazareth Old City
Then proceed to taste, smell and feel the local culture of Nazareth making various stops in the city, among them The Old City isles, mosque, synagogue, galleries, shops, cultural caffe's, sweet shops, traditional bakeries and more. You may have the chance to grab some of the street food for lunch or enjoy a wide variety of the local cuisine.
The Annunciation Basilica
Your tour in Nazareth cannot exclude visiting the House of Virgin Mary under the Basilica of the Annunciation. There, you can see the modest house and reflect on the event of the Annunciation and her life next to Jesus. A possibility to take the steps up to the basilica and see its wonderful decorations and architecture. Further, you may visit the Church of St. Joseph to get closer look to an ancient Jewish house. This where the tradition marks the house of the Holy Family.
Mount Precipice
For the afternoon, you may want to conclude your day with a short (but paved) hike to Mt. Precipice with its breathtaking view of Nazareth, The Jezreel Plains, Mt. Carmel and more, all can be seen from that point. Before you flush your eyes with the view, do not forget to take your drink from the local kiosk on the mountain to "flush your heart" too. Good camera is very essential at this place.
Ending Point
Can be the same as the Meeting Point or any other within 40 km from Nazareth
