Marina Lunga
- I'll meet you at Marina Lunga, the main port of the island. From there, we'll head to Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Lipari's main street.
Leaving the main street we'll wander through the typical narrow streets to reach the fortifies citadel
Here, we pause to uncover the fascinating history behind the imposing 15th-century walls.
This has been the heart of the town since the 5th millennium B.C., enclosing the entire history of the island. Today, it’s home to five historic Catholic churches, an archaeological site, and the impressive Archaeological Museum.
It's the main church of all the archipelago and it was originally built in the 11th century. It's aspect today, dates back to the 18th century.
Built by the Benedictine monks in 1131 and almost forgot for centuries, now we can admire the stone cloister built using the Roman and Greek material.
From here above, we'll take in the picturesque harbour of Marina Corta—the island's exclusive heart—along with the breath-taking panoramas surrounding us
It is Lipari's charming little fishing port, where colourful boats gently dock. It is the island's main and exclusive square. Here, we soak in the vibrant marine landscape and atmosphere."
After taking in the views of the little harbour and the two historic churches, we'll conclude the tour here. The square offers cosy cafés and restaurants where you can unwind and savour the local ambiance.
