Charming Cefalù
Cefalù, the ancient Cephaloidion, is today a charming medieval town set in north western Sicily.
Its unique Cathedral, listed in UNESCO Heritage, opens up on a square where local people and visitors stop at cafés and restaurants.
Then cobbled alleys, arches listed by lava stones and little shops where you can find ancient and modern pottery decorated in bright colours add that special charm to this unique town.
The former fishermen village is a very lively place and you'll definetely love it.

Meeting Point
Piazza Colombo
- Piazza Colombo is just outside the old town, a perfect start to the tour as it's right in front of the beach and close to most hotels.
Lavatoio medievale
One of the main attractions in Cefalù, it was originally built in middle ages to allow women do their washing in fresh water directly resurfacing from a spring in the nearby hills. It still shows the washing spots where laundry and chatting went along. A secluded space where women finally gathered and shared thoughts and words, it's quietness and clear water are unique.
Porta Pescara
One of the old entrance gates to the old town it frames a unique view over the bay and its scenic sandy beach.
Porticciolo dei pescatori
Cefalù had always been a little fishermen's town due to the natural shape of its harbour. You can still see the old plaques bearing the names of local fishermen and at certa in times you can even see them returning after fish hunting. The view over the Aeolian Islands and sunrays hitting the crystal clear water of the sea are just amazing!
Duomo di Cefalù
An imposing church included in the list of the UNESCO Heritage monumento this is one of the great masterpieces in the famed Arab-Norman architecture.
The perfect combination of several cultural influences dating back to Byzantine, Arab, Norman, Romanesque and Baroque times make this grand basilica one of a kind. Its huge and refined mosaics portraying Jesus, the Holy Virgin with Saints and Angels are unique and you won't forget Jesus gaze following as you move around the Church: absolutely unmissable.
Caffè del Duomo
The best opportunity to taste a homemade gelato or the typical Sicilian pastry after a walk along the medieval streets downtown, it's definetely what it takes to enjoy the lively atmosphere and local feel.
