Driving out of Montego Bay
Your Kingston adventure begins at sunrise as we depart Montego Bay, the golden morning light dancing on the Caribbean Sea. The journey takes you past quiet fishing villages, lush green hills, and fields of sugarcane swaying in the breeze. As the toll road winds through Jamaica’s mountainous heart, breathtaking valleys and misty peaks unfold before your eyes. Nearing Kingston, the vast Liguanea Plain and sparkling Kingston Harbor welcome you to the vibrant capital, where history, art, and culture await.
Arriving into Kingston
As you enter along the Portmore Causeway, view the Kingston Harbour, with views of the city skyline emerging ahead. Continue along Spanish Town Road, passing neighborhoods and local markets before reaching downtown Kingston, the cultural and commercial heart of the city. Visit the Coronation market. Kingston’s largest and busiest fresh produce market, where vendors from across the island gather to sell colorful fruits, vegetables, spices, and goods. Explore the vibrant street art that brings downtown Kingston to life, where colorful murals and creative graffiti celebrate Jamaica’s culture, history, and music. Each piece tells a story, turning city walls into open-air galleries that showcase the talent and spirit of local artists.
Bob Marley Museum
Bob Marley’s former residence, a stately home now preserved as a museum dedicated to the King of Reggae. Walk through the rooms where Marley lived and worked, each filled with personal artifacts, rare photographs, awards, and treasured memorabilia. Listen to stories behind his most iconic songs, view original recording equipment, and see the very room where he penned some of his greatest hits. The museum offers a rare, intimate glimpse into Marley’s life, his Rastafarian beliefs, and his influence on music and culture worldwide.
National Gallery of Jamaica
Depart Bob Marley Museum and onto another cultural landmark. The National Gallery of Jamaica, is a cultural landmark and one of the oldest and largest public art museums in the Caribbean. Walk through spacious galleries showcasing an impressive collection of Jamaican art, from ancient Taino carvings to vibrant contemporary pieces. View works by some of the island’s most celebrated artists, alongside selected Caribbean and international creations. The gallery’s exhibits tells the story of Jamaica’s artistic evolution, reflecting on its history, struggles, and triumphs.
Devon House
Devon House, Kingston’s 19th-century mansion built by George Stiebel, Jamaica’s first Black millionaire. Step inside and admire the beautifully preserved Georgian architecture, period furnishings, and fine craftsmanship that reflect the grandeur of the era. Stroll through the lush, manicured gardens, where shaded paths and vibrant blooms create a peaceful escape from the city’s bustle. Indulge in lunch (optional) from one of the estate’s charming eateries or treat yourself to the world-famous Devon House ice cream, served in generous scoops with multiply flavors. Have a treat curry goat patty one of its kind. Devon House is a historic estate both a cultural treasure and a place to simply relax.
Heros Circle, Emancipation Park and Strawberry Hill
Visit Strawberry Hill, a former 18th-century coffee estate in the Blue Mountains, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of Kingston, its harbor, and the surrounding peaks. Descend into the city to visit the National Heroes Circle, honoring Jamaica’s most celebrated figures with impressive statues and monuments, including a tribute to Bob Marley. Then onto Emancipation Park, an urban oasis with tropical gardens and the iconic Redemption Song sculpture.
Depart Kingston
We depart to Kingston and make our way back to Montego Bay to your original pick-up point.
