Guided by a Seoul-born expert historian, this tour explores the Korean War, the division of the peninsula, and the complex realities that still shape the region today. Rather than simply visiting observation points, you will gain a deeper understanding of the historical events, geopolitical tensions, and human stories connected to the DMZ.

This journey offers a thoughtful perspective on Korea’s past, present, and the ongoing search for peace.

Itinerary

09:30 AM

Meeting Point

At the lobby of your Hotel

- Where the reception desk is located.

11:00 AM

Imjingak Peace Park

Imjingak Peace Park is located just south of the Korean Demilitarized Zone and serves as the main gateway for civilian visits to the DMZ.

Here you will see monuments, war relics, and historical landmarks related to the Korean War and the division of the Korean Peninsula, including the historic Freedom Bridge used during prisoner exchanges after the war.

This is also where the ticketing and security process for the DMZ tour takes place. Since the DMZ visit operates on fixed entry schedules and lasts about three hours without a long meal break, we usually take a short brunch stop here before entering the DMZ area.

01:00 PM

DMZ Restricted Area Tour (Government Shuttle Bus)

Entry into the DMZ is strictly controlled. Visitors must transfer to an official government-operated shuttle bus, as private vehicles are not allowed inside the restricted zone.

During the DMZ visit we will typically stop at three key locations:

DMZ Exhibition Hall – A short introduction to the Korean War and the division of Korea through video and historical displays.

The Third Infiltration Tunnel – A tunnel secretly built by North Korea and discovered in 1978. Visitors may either walk down the access path or use the monorail when available before entering the tunnel.

Dora Observatory – Located close to the Military Demarcation Line (MDL), this observatory allows visitors to look across the border into North Korea and understand the geography and military realities of the Korean Peninsula.

A brief stop is also made at Unification Village, a small agricultural community inside the civilian control zone known for its local specialty products.

Important notes for the DMZ visit:

• Passport is required for identity verification.

• Photography is permitted only in designated areas.

• The exact order of sites may vary depending on DMZ control schedules.

04:20 PM

Return to the Hotel

After completing the DMZ visit, we return to Imjingak peace park where our private vehicle will be waiting.

From there we begin the drive back to the your hotel in Seoul. The journey typically takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

About Tour Guide Andy P.

[Expert Historian & Your Knowledgeable Korean Friend]

"To truly understand a country, you need a guide who has lived its history and navigated its modern complexities."

Hi, I’m Andy. I bridge the gap between Korea’s dynamic corporate world and its profound historical roots. While I hold the highest-level Korean History Proficiency Certificate (Level 1), my guests often describe me as a "knowledgeable and humorous Korean friend."

■ Why Choose My Tour?

• Intellectual Depth:

I don't just list dates; I share stories. With an MBA and over 25 years of corporate experience, I provide a nuanced explanation of how Korea’s past has shaped its modern society and economy.

• Global Perspective & Empathy:

With about 10 years of experience as an expatriate in Indonesia and Vietnam, and having explored more than 16 countries (including the UK, USA, and Italy—such as Assisi and Rome), I deeply resonate with the perspectives of international travelers. Whether you're a history enthusiast or a casual explorer, I naturally bridge cultural gaps through engaging storytelling.

• Premium Comfort:

Travel in a brand-new 2025 Hyundai Staria Hybrid Van, ensuring a quiet, eco-friendly, and comfortable journey.

■ My Philosophy

A great tour is a balance of insight, laughter, and genuine connection. I use carefully prepared laminated insight cards to make complex history clear and engaging, but my greatest joy is helping guests experience Korea in a meaningful and memorable way.

Beyond Seoul, I also specialize in multi-day journeys to Gyeongju, Andong, and Busan.

Let’s discover the real Korea together.

Sincerely,

Andy

Reviews

A fascinating tour from a great guide!

We had a wonderful day and half private tour with Andy! He was responsive and easy to plan our custom day and a half tour in Seoul, listening to our interests and making recommendations. We had a half day in the National Museum for a crash course in Korean History, followed by a full day exploring the Palace, Insadong and finishing at the War Memorial Museum. You can tell that Andy is a truly interested and passionate about Korean history, which made for a very engaging tour. He was a gracious and caring host that went the extra mile to help us enjoy our visit - his brand new minivan is also very comfortable to travel between locations. I would certainly recommend Andy. If you are thinking of any sort of tour around Seoul, give him message to discuss your ideas!
