Haeparang Park is a beautiful seaside park in Yeongdeok, located along Korea’s famous Haeparang Trail, a long-distance walking route that follows the east coast of Korea.

The Jangsa Landing Operation Memorial Hall in Yeongdeok commemorates the Jangsa Landing Operation, a daring amphibious landing carried out by South Korean student soldiers during the Korean War in September 1950.

The operation took place at Jangsa Beach in Yeongdeok, behind enemy lines. Around 770 student soldiers participated in the mission, which aimed to disrupt North Korean supply routes and divert enemy forces at a critical moment of the war.

Today, the memorial hall tells the story of these young soldiers and the operation through historical displays, photographs, artifacts, and educational exhibits. It serves as a place to remember their sacrifice and to reflect on the hardships of the Korean War.

The Yeongdeok Wind Power Plant is one of Yeongdeok’s most distinctive attractions, located on a scenic hill overlooking the East Sea.

The area is home to numerous large wind turbines, creating a unique landscape where clean energy and beautiful coastal scenery come together. On a clear day, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the blue waters of the East Sea.

It is also a popular spot for taking photos and enjoying the refreshing sea breeze. The combination of the enormous wind turbines, open grassland, and ocean views makes it quite different from typical tourist attractions in Korea.

Yeongdeok Snow Crab Street

Yeongdeok Snow Crab Street is one of the most famous food destinations in Yeongdeok, known for its fresh and delicious snow crab, one of the region’s signature seafood specialties.

The street is lined with numerous restaurants serving freshly caught snow crab and other local seafood. Visitors can choose their own crab, have it steamed, and enjoy the sweet and delicate meat right at the restaurant.

Yeongdeok is particularly famous for snow crab because of its long history of crab fishing and its location along Korea’s east coast.
