I've lived in Dublin city centre and its suburbs all my life, and the history of Dublin along with its stories continues to surprise me, even to someone who lives here. Since I've started giving guided tours I've found it to be a lot of fun, and very rewarding to see visitors really engage with the real Dublin City. These are the streets of countless struggles for freedom, laughter, pain, joy, as well as Bono, James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Sinead O'Connor and Arthur Guinness. . . I get distracted with stories, so you might have to remind me from time to time!, and I like to make sure that anyone who books onto my tours have the best of times! As a long time musician, who's spent a lot of time with other Irish musicians, I've also got no shortage of insights into the heart of Irish music and folklore - it's a lovely world to occupy. I also have a very special relationship with Dublin's Ha'Penny Bridge, remind me to tell you about this, you won't find the answer on Google! Dublin is an old city, but it's not a museum, it's also a brand new city - this is the same throughout all of Ireland - and I enjoy showing visitors how these worlds live side by side, so you can have fun while enjoying the city at the same time!

I retired in 2019 after a 40 year career in the technology industry, working for some of the biggest global names in the business. Because of my passion for all things historical my dream had always been to become a tour guide and I qualified as a official guide in August 2020. I have been guiding since 2010 and have my own limousine. I offer walking tours, driving tours, specialist tours and front of coach tours. There are two tours offered on this site: you can have a full day out in County Wicklow, visiting Powerscourt Gardens, driving through County Wicklow National Park, and exploring Glendalough - the valley of two lakes. We can incorporate a hike into the day, should you wish. I also offer walking tours of Dublin city. I worked in the property business here for many years, and then later in the political world, so I am very familiar with the city and it's history. Many of the main attractions are close to one another, so a walking tour is a great way to explore. My tour aims to give you an overview of our history, and we can dip into the galleries and museum to see some of the highlights. We can pack a lot into four hours!!

Hi, I'm Caitlin - a native of Tipperary living and working in Dublin for the past 10 years. I am a historian and postdoctoral researcher based in Dublin offering tours of the city focusing on the modern period - approximately the last 250 years. My particular areas of interest are social history and the revolutionary period. I have over 10 years of experience working within the tourism industry, with experience creating and delivering tours at the Abbey Theatre, the National Museum of Ireland, the 1916 Walking Tour, and Glasnevin Cemetery, and as a freelance tour guide with companies such as Peter Somers Travel. I have curated exhibitions on Irish history and Irish life for Clerys and the National Archives of Ireland, and regularly present at conferences on Irish history. I completed my PhD in Public History at Trinity College, Dublin, where I studied how history was used to create different identities in the two Irish states after partition. I chose to study public history because I am really passionate about connecting the public with the history all around us and engaging them with it in their everyday life. I have been published in both popular and academic presses in Irish history, and am a regular contributor to podcasts, radio shows, and documentaries.
