Hi, My name is Didem. I was born in 1977 in Istanbul and I am a licensed tour guide working in Istanbul where my family has lived for more than a century. Before studying tour guiding I studied economics and worked in banking and finance for many years. As I was so much amazed with the rich history of my hometown I decided to study guiding and turn my passion to my profession. Today I am so happy that I have been able to share my knowledge, passion and love for Istanbul with the thousands of guests I have guided so far. I do hope that our paths will cross with you and It will be my pleasure to guide you in our beautiful Istanbul.

Landmarks of İstanbul
İstanbul is an amazing city with 2700 years of history as the capital of two empires. With this tour we are starting the day with the oldest structure of Constantinople, the Hippodrome and the Egytian Obelisk. Then we are visiting two more landmarks from the Roman era, 1500 years old Hagia Sophia and Basilica cistern. After our inside visits to the Roman landmarks, we'll see Blue Mosque from outside and walk to the Grand Bazaar to enjoy this 600 years old Ottoman bazaar with 4000 shops.

Ottomans' İstanbul
We start this tour at the Hippodrome and continue with the world famous Blue Mosque, built by the Ottomans in 1616, which takes its colors from precious stones. Then we visit the Ibrahim Pasha Palace, one of the most important buildings of Ottoman civil architecture. Today, the palace is used as a museum of Turkish and Islamic artifacts which sheds a strong light on the Ottoman period with its extensive collections. Then we visit the oldest and the biggest bazaar in the world, The Grand Bazaar.

On this tour, we start with a visit to the Topkapi Palace Museum and its rich collections, which was the administrative center and residence of the Ottoman sultans for 400 years. Then we visit the Rüstem Pasha Mosque, a rare work of Architect Sinan and a hidden gem in the old city which was chosen as the most beautiful mosque in Europe by Newsweek magazine. Then we will finalize our tour with a very delicious and enjoyable visit to the historical Egyptian Bazaar.

After getting my bachelor's degree in econometrics as a valedictorian and working in finance and foreign trade sectors in Türkiye for several years, I went to the USA. When I had studied my master's in economics at George Washington University (GWU), I was offered two prestigious postgraduate scholarships by The University of Nottingham (UoN) and so, I moved to the UK. After getting my PGCert in economics from The UoN, I moved back to Istanbul and started my master's in econometrics in order to pursue a PhD. However, at the same time, I took my first steps towards my professional carreer in tourism. During my life in Washington DC, for about 4 years, I had experienced not only being a volunteer translator for Turkish delegations and international students hosted by non-profit organizations sponsored by the US government, but also being a volunteer guide of them for cultural tours including the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest museum complex. Therefore, after moving back to Istanbul, I desired presenting Istanbul - my lovely hometown! - and Türkiye to tourists in the right way and completed the tourist guidance program at Cappadocia University as a full scholarship scholar. I also hold an associate of arts degree in cultural heritage and tourism and have been studying art history at Istanbul Medeniyet University.
