1000 years in 100 minutes - UNESCO World Heritage of Falun
Falun grow up as a town around the largest and most importan copper mine in Europe in the 15-1600's. This World Heritage city has lots to offer: splendid architecture, quaint small cottages where the miners lived, stories that span 1000 years, world famous scientists, authors and a very rich culture heritage.
You will learn why we have so many red houses in the country, what is the most traditional evening meal and what are our symbols.
During our walk all this and more will come to live!

Meeting Point
By the statue on the main square, Stora Torget
The city of Falun, Dalarna province
We will start our walk in the center of the city that were planned in the 1600's. Here we have imposing buildings such as the Kristine Church, the City Hall and the former head quarters for the mining industry, Stora. You will hear about the history, about todays life and about the people who has visited the city.
From here we stroll along the Falu creek to Elsborg, the quaint area of small red cottages, where the miners lived. We will see the mine in a distance, hear about the slagg, about Falun as a sport Mecca and the nature around us.
The tour either ends by the mine or in the city center.

Let me open up the doors to my country, the culture and the history on our walks. My roots are in the country side, the province of Dalarna, where I am a qualified tourist guide. This is where one of the symbols of Sweden is made, the Dalahorse. Falun is a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE, let me take you around in the area, to the painter Carl Larsson's home and museum, to the village of Sundborn and to the city of Falun. This is where the red paint used on som many houses in Sweden comes from and where art, fairy tales, industry and nature blends into one.
Or if in Stockholm, why not join me to Skansen Park in Stockholm and hear about old and new traditions from Dalarna and other parts. I am a qualified tourist guide in Stockholm as well.
Welcome to the university town of UPPSALA - where vikings, scholars and Kings meet.
The old ancient history at Old Uppsala will come to live at the museum, we will admire the runestones, visit the cathedral as well as the university library. A day full of history!
