"Oldoinyo Le Ngai" is a Maasai term meaning "Mountain of God". This mountain is the only active volcano in East Africa. Volcanic activity on the mountain has been observed from as far back as 1883, and it is still active today. The Oldoinyo Le Ngai mountain reaches a height of approximately 9442 feet. The Crater Highlands are part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is a reserve where the local communities live alongside the wildlife.

Meeting Point
At your hotel in Arusha
- We will pick you at your hotel in Arusha.
DAY 1: ARUSHA TO LAKE NATRON
Departing Arusha in the morning you drive to Mtu-wa Mbu (Lake Manyara) for lunch. After lunch you drive north along the bottom of the Great Rift Valley wall to Lake Natron and the village of Ngare Sero at the base of Ol Doinyo Lengai. Overnight at a campsite by the lake.
DAY 2: LAKE NATRON , NAGARESERO TO OLDONYO LENGAI
From Lake Natron to Ngare Sero is a 3-hour walk. Lengai is best approached from the west. Between Ngare Sero and Lengai's lower slopes is another 3 hours walk. The vehicle will go on ahead here so that it is there to take you up this large gully and so saving you at least 6 hours of walking. Overnight camp in the gully.
DAY 3: OLDONYO LENGAI SUMMIT AND BACK TO LAKE NATRON CAMPSITE
A very early start in order to gain as much height as possible in the cool of the morning. Sun hats and a large water in-take are essential. Descend by the same route.
Great care should be taken on the way down: loose volcanic gravel on bare rock makes it perilous going in places. Overnight at the Lake Natron camp site.
DAY 4: LAKE NATRON TO ARUSHA TOWN
Departing after breakfast you drive back to Arusha town. Drop-off.

CLIMB MOUNT KILIMANJARO MARANGU ROUTE 6 DAYS
Marangu route which is also known as the coca cola route is the least expensive route to the summit. This is also the only route with the comforts of sleeping huts at every camp site with solar lights and comfortable beds. The huts are communal, and the bunks have a sponge mattress and pillow. There are 60 beds at both Mandara and Kibo Huts and 120 beds at Horombo Hut. Bathrooms and running water are available at the two lower huts.

The Shira Plateau area of Kilimanjaro offers a fantastic opportunity to get high on a big mountain and to hike around this impressive World Heritage Site as a day trip – it’s a fantastic area and there are some great day hikes – either a more strenuous day hiking up along the ancient rim of the plateau or something more relaxed sticking to the undulating floor – perhaps going as far as the photogenic ‘cone place’ or Shira Needles’ at the Southern end of the plateau.

On this trip, you will hike on the Marangu Route with one night at Mandara Hut and towards Horombo Hut before returning to Mandara for lunch and then hiking back. You will NOT reach the summit. All short treks are offered on a private basis, and you can start on any day of the year. The short treks are geared for people who like to hike but reaching the summit isn’t a “must do”, and allow one to experience the excitement of hiking on the highest peak on the African continent.

TARANGIRE DAY TRIP SAFARI
On this day trip we will visit Tarangire National Park. Tarangire National Park is known for its many elephants and huge, ancient baobab trees. You’ll be sure to see quite a few, along with many other animals that live here. The day trip starts with an early morning departure from Arusha (or Moshi). From here we drive straight to Tarangire National Park, which will take about two hours.
