Barrels of sake

There are some characteristics of Jinja or Shinto shrine, in a meaning especially to tell the difference from Buddhist temple. I would like to talk about  what those are like in my tours with you while seeing various real objects. Speaking of shrine, Meiji Jingu Shrine is a popular tourist spot in Tokyo. When I took my guests from Australia there, they were impressed  by the whole atmosphere and interested in any unique things.  Along the approach path to the main hall, there are many barrels of sake, and in addition, on the opposite side many barrels of wine. Why is that? Meiji shrine is dedicated to the deified spirit of Emperor Meiji. He was fond of drinking wine as well as sake. He was a pioneer of Japan's modernization. I would like to talk about religion in Japan. Why don't you join me?
