Montmorency Falls

A short ten minute drive from Quebec City along the St. Lawrence River will take you to the magnificent Montmorency Falls ($). You will be impressed by this waterfall, which exceeds the height of Niagara Falls by 30 metres. This unique site will enchant you. On site, you will have time at the bottom of the falls to stroll, take pictures and admire the breathtaking scenery. If you wish you can take the cable car ($) to the summit of the falls, to visit the Manoir Montmorency, its interpretation centre, or cross the suspension bridge.

Côte de Beaupré

By taking the Avenue Royale also called Route de la Nouvelle-France, the oldest road that could accommodate wheeled vehicles in the region dating from the late 17 century (1683), you will succumb to the charm of the beautiful landscapes of the Quebec countryside. Pilgrims have travelled this way for years to the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, a world-famous pilgrimage site. This sanctuary, the most famous in North America, whose history began in 1658, welcomes every year more than a million pilgrims from all over the world.

On the way to the Basilica you will have a chance to taste Maple products ($), visit the unique Copper museum-boutique or visit a vineyard ($). You will see Architecture dating back from 17, 18 & 19 century, Old Procession chapels, Root cellars, Old bread ovens, A flour mill built in the 17 century, Old farms, farm land, great scenery & beautiful villages.

Ile d'Orléans

Why not enhancing your tour with a visit to the island of Orléans, cradle of rural French America. You will fall under the charm of this island where the landscapes, the heritage and the agritourism unite to enchant you.

If you are limited in time I propose a visit to the village of Sainte-Pétronille (western tip of the island) which will remind you the picturesque charm of rural life of the 19th century and offers a spectacular view of Quebec City.

If you have more time then you will have the opportunity to explore the villages of St-Laurent, St-Jean, Ste-Famille and St-Pierre founded in 1661 and 1679. You may visit one of the many art galleries on the island, an old flour mill, a manor house dating from the French regime ($), a rural church built in the XVIII century, a sugar shack ($), a vineyard ($)... or stop at one of the many kiosks along the way, to taste the local delicacies such as wines, ciders, chocolates, cheeses, maple products, fruits and vegetables...

On the way you will have a chance to see Architecture dating back from 17, 18 & 19 century, Pilots houses, Old Procession chapel, Old farms, farm land & great scenery.
