Sichuan opera is best experienced in a traditional tea house, where you can unwind with delicious snacks and steaming hot tea while enjoying the performance.
Shu Feng Ya Yun’ is one of the most renowned Sichuan Opera performances in Chengdu, offering an exquisite showcase of this traditional art.The show features classic stories brought to life by skilled performers in colorful attire, with the highlight being the rapid and magical face-changing act. Audience members are treated to an engaging and culturally rich experience that reflects the essence of Sichuan’s theatrical heritage。
Participating in this event , you’re in for a special treat with an exclusive local experience. You get to pick one of three cool traditional services: A. a nice and soothing ear cleaning; B. a relaxing massage to unwind; or C. the fun of dressing up in a simple opera costume. Each activity is a quick 10 to 20-minute thing, and you can do it 20 to 30 minutes before the show starts.

“Epic Layover Experience”
I had a 16 hour layover in Chengdu and was deciding whether to tour it myself or book with a guide (it is my first time using this site). My usual option is self-exploration, but with the limited time and my limited knowledge of the language and area, I chose to go with Jason! I was not disappointed. Jason was waiting for me at the airport with a sign, a nice set of wheels, and his friendly buddy/driver, Kevin. Immediately, I was putting Jason's depth of knowledge to the test. Asking endless questions (in english), from the airport to the panda center. He navigated them smoothly, which I found foreshadowed our day together. I really enjoyed walking the panda center and learning about its history and inhabitants from Jason. He spoke with a passion for it and I could tell he enjoys sharing his knowledge. After a stellar, local lunch, I was dropped at a spot to work remote for a few hours before continuing our tour. I really appreciated this flexibility. Before dropping me back at the airport, Jason took me to a night market, where Kevin joined us for some hotpot. They both spoke on the tradition of the meal, the market, and the community and I was able to learn more about them. It was an enjoyable day and I'm glad I chose not to go it alone.
