If you are looking for a close encounter with pandas, it is certainly worth visiting the Dujiangyan Panda Base. This base is located in a tranquil valley for the purpose of “letting pandas be free as they used to be”. Therefore, the giant pandas here are more vigorous than those in zoos. As a volunteer, you can work as a keeper to make food for them . It is a good chance for you to observe their living habits and physical features.

Meeting Point
The lobby of your hotel
- we will meet you at your hotel's lobby The Dujiangyan Panda Base is about 70 kilometers away from Chengdu, and the drive takes about an hour and a half..
Dujiangyan panda base
After arrival, sigh up and put on work clothes and gloves. The experienced keepers will tell you what to do, and your tour guide will be always by your side.

Roam around the base and take a visit to have a look of more giant pandas and red pandas.

The film is about the training of giant pandas at the panda base for their release back into the wild.

Because bamboo has low nutritional value, panda cakes are made to supplement their nutrition.
Drive back to Chengdu(1.5hours)
After a whole day’s work, you will receive a certificate for the unforgettable day. Then, your guide and driver will escort you back to Chengdu.

Tour Important Information
The age restriction for volunteers is between 8 and 70 years old. You can still take good care of the pandas even if you are unable to be a panda volunteer for the day. There are several activities to take part in, such as panda excreta analysis, watching a documentary movie, making panda cakes, and so on.
(The volunteering spots are limited. We will help the guests to join the program in other panda bases if Dujiangyan Panda Base is not available。）

“Epic Layover Experience”
I had a 16 hour layover in Chengdu and was deciding whether to tour it myself or book with a guide (it is my first time using this site). My usual option is self-exploration, but with the limited time and my limited knowledge of the language and area, I chose to go with Jason! I was not disappointed. Jason was waiting for me at the airport with a sign, a nice set of wheels, and his friendly buddy/driver, Kevin. Immediately, I was putting Jason's depth of knowledge to the test. Asking endless questions (in english), from the airport to the panda center. He navigated them smoothly, which I found foreshadowed our day together. I really enjoyed walking the panda center and learning about its history and inhabitants from Jason. He spoke with a passion for it and I could tell he enjoys sharing his knowledge. After a stellar, local lunch, I was dropped at a spot to work remote for a few hours before continuing our tour. I really appreciated this flexibility. Before dropping me back at the airport, Jason took me to a night market, where Kevin joined us for some hotpot. They both spoke on the tradition of the meal, the market, and the community and I was able to learn more about them. It was an enjoyable day and I'm glad I chose not to go it alone.
