Shenzhen Shopping & Photo Day: Jewelry Market, Design District & Skyline
Boutiques, Jewelry, Creative Markets & Skyline Views
A full day built for people who'd rather come home with something they can't buy anywhere else — and photos to match. You'll start in the wholesale jewelry district where the city's gold, gemstones and lab-grown diamonds are actually traded, spend the afternoon in a converted industrial park full of independent designers, and finish at the bay as the skyline lights up.

Meeting Point
Hotel Pickup
- I'll meet you at your hotel lobby.
Shuibei Jewelry District
The jewelry capital of China — where 80% of the country's jewelry trade happens.
Why you'll love it
* Endless variety — gold, silver, jade, gemstones, diamonds (natural AND lab-grown), fashion jewelry, all under one roof
* Wholesale prices — pay a fraction of what you'd pay at home, even for one piece
* Quality guaranteed — I'll take you to reputable showrooms with certified stones (IGI/NGTC)
* Fascinating to see — even if you don't buy, the scale of this jewelry hub is mind-blowing
Lunch
We'll grab lunch at a nice spot near OCT-LOFT — I'll pick something based on whatever you're craving!
OCT-LOFT Creative Park
Shenzhen's hippest district — independent designers, vintage finds, and industrial-chic vibes.
What you'll find:
* Independent designer boutiques — unique clothing, handmade jewelry, and accessories you won't see in malls
* Vintage & second-hand shops — curated retro clothing and one-of-a-kind finds
* Concept stores & lifestyle shops — beautiful home goods, stationery, and gifts
* Street art & murals — colorful walls and industrial architecture, perfect for photos
* Cozy cafes and bakeries — great spots to rest and recharge
Weekend bonus: Creative Market
On weekends, OCT-LOFT hosts an outdoor creative market with local artisans selling handmade jewelry, art prints, ceramics, candles, and more. It's like a treasure hunt — you never know what unique piece you'll find!
Driverless taxi to the bay, then skyline photos
We ride from OCT-LOFT to Shenzhen Bay in an autonomous taxi — no driver, the wheel turns itself — and finish at Talent Park and Poly Cultural Plaza as the light goes gold
Talent Park & Poly Cultural Plaza
Golden hour skyline views + Shenzhen's trendiest waterfront district.
What we'll do:
* Sunset skyline walk — Stroll along the waterfront with the best views of Shenzhen's iconic skyline. The "Spring Bamboo" tower and "Spring Cocoon" stadium glow in the golden light — total Instagram gold
* Poly Cultural Plaza — A sleek, modern complex with trendy boutiques, beauty stores, and lifestyle shops. The architecture itself is worth photographing
* Drone coffee delivery — Order a drink and watch it arrive by drone! A fun, very Shenzhen experience
* Trendy tech lifestyle store — Browse the latest gadgets and futuristic accessories

About Tour Guide Mei L.
Hi there! I've called Shenzhen home for over 25 years — and this city still surprises me every day.
I spent more than a decade with a Fortune 500 company in the IT industry, but my heart has always been in connecting people across cultures. Today, I'm a licensed English tour guide and a Mandarin teacher for international students — combining my deep love for this city with my passion for sharing Chinese culture with visitors from around the world.
Shenzhen isn't just China's tech capital. It's a city of incredible food trails, vibrant markets, and stunning coastal hikes — and I want to show you the real Shenzhen, beyond the guidebooks.
I lived in Hong Kong for two years and volunteered over 200 hours with a Hong Kong-based charity, which deepened my cross-cultural perspective and my commitment to creating meaningful experiences for travelers.
I'm also an amateur photographer, a hiking lover, and a mom of two — which keeps me curious and energetic! Whether you're into street food, tech company visits, coastal walks, or cultural immersion, I'd love to craft a tour just for you.
Let's explore Shenzhen together!

“Perfect Day in Shenzhen”
I genuinely cannot recommend Mei enough!! She was absolutely wonderful and made my time in Shenzhen so special. She was incredibly kind, flexible, and thoughtful about what I wanted to do, and made the entire experience feel less like a tour and more like spending the day exploring the city with a friend! She took me to an amazing jewelry market, as well as a really cool local market and community area that I never would have discovered on my own. I loved getting to experience a more local side of Shenzhen, and she made everything feel so easy, comfortable, and fun. One of my favorite things about traveling is getting to experience places beyond the typical tourist attractions, and Mei really made that possible. I had such a wonderful time with her and would absolutely recommend her to anyone visiting Shenzhen. Thank you so much, Mei!!

Dear Jessica, reading this honestly made my day — thank you so much for such kind words. What you said about it feeling less like a tour and more like spending the day with a friend is exactly what I hope for every time. Every guest comes to Shenzhen with a different picture in their mind of what the city should feel like, and my job — and honestly my favorite part of this work — is figuring out what that picture is and trying to bring it to life. So hearing that I got it right for you means a great deal. And I have to say, the local market and those little neighborhood streets are some of my favorite places in the whole city. Getting to share them with someone who genuinely enjoys that side of travel was such a joy. Thank you for being so open, easygoing, and curious. You made the day easy and fun for me too. If you ever come back to Shenzhen, there's so much more I'd love to show and thank you again, truly.

Thank you so much! It was such a pleasure showing your family around — the mangroves, the bike ride along the bay, and all that amazing food in Shekou. Really appreciate the kind words about my English and the options — it means a lot. If you're ever back in Shenzhen, I'd love to show you more of the city. Safe travels home!
