Accomodation Pick up
- We will pick you up at your accommodation in Quito, Quito Airport or Airport Hotel to start with this Tour
Day 1 – Scenic Drive from Quito & Hot Springs at Papallacta
Your Amazon adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Quito. Travel through the Eastern Andes, passing through diverse ecosystems — from highlands to cloud forest to rainforest.
Midway, we stop at the Papallacta Hot Springs, a serene mountain village surrounded by nature. Enjoy a rejuvenating soak in volcanic thermal pools at the edge of a national park, followed by a relaxing lunch.
In the afternoon, continue your journey through lush jungle landscapes to our Amazon lodge. After check-in, enjoy a free afternoon to relax or explore the nearby area. The rainforest adventure begins tomorrow.
Day 2 – Wildlife, Canoe Ride & Indigenous Cultural Immersion
After breakfast, board a motorized canoe for a scenic ride along the Napo River (approx. 1.5 hours). Our first stop is AmaZoonico, a wildlife rescue center where you'll learn about Amazon conservation and meet animals like monkeys, toucans, and wild cats.
Next, visit a Kichwa community to:
Practice blowdart hunting
Help feed caimans
Enjoy a picnic lunch by the riverside
In the afternoon, continue cultural visits (depending on availability), with activities like:
Visiting the Trap Museum & learning about medicinal plants
Gold panning and clay modeling
Jewelry making with natural seeds
Traditional dances and natural tattoo painting
Return to the lodge for dinner and rest. In the evening, you may join an optional night walk to spot nocturnal wildlife (frogs, insects, maybe owls or night monkeys).
Day 3 – Waterfalls, Monkeys & River Tubing Adventure
Today begins with a one-hour guided hike through the jungle to reach the refreshing Las Latas Waterfall. Swim in the natural pools or relax in the cool jungle mist, surrounded by pristine nature.
Afterward, we visit Puerto Misahuallí, a charming Amazon town:
Have a traditional Amazonian lunch
Visit Misahuallí Beach
Play with friendly Capuchin monkeys in the town square
Then, get ready for some fun and adventure — float down the Napo River on a river tubing experience! Drift along the gentle currents with spectacular views and a splash of adrenaline.
Return to the lodge in the late afternoon for some free time, relaxation, and packing.
Day 4 – Jungle Morning Adventure, Optional Mushroom Farm Visit & Return to Quito
After breakfast at the lodge, we begin our final rainforest activity — with two immersive options to choose from:
Option 1: Visit Paikawe Lake & Reserve
Embark on a peaceful morning exploration of Paikawe Lake, a protected area teeming with life. As you glide through the calm waters, keep your eyes open for monkeys, caimans, turtles, and a variety of bird species. This quiet, scenic experience is ideal for nature lovers and photographers.
Option 2: Piranha Fishing
For those craving a more hands-on adventure, try your luck with traditional Piranha fishing — a fun and exciting way to engage with local river life and jungle survival techniques.
After the morning activity, we return to the lodge for a final moment to relax, pack your belongings, and prepare for the journey back to Quito.
Optional Stop: Mushroom Farm in the Andean Foothills
As we drive back through the Andean cloud forest, and if availability allows, we make a short stop at a local mushroom farm nestled in the hills. Here you’ll:
Learn about sustainable mushroom cultivation in this cool, humid climate
Discover how these fungi are used both culinarily and medicinally by local communities
This stop offers a fascinating glimpse into Ecuador’s growing eco-agriculture movement and the innovation of small, community-driven farming projects.
After the visit, we continue our journey, arriving back in Quito by late afternoon, bringing your Amazon rainforest adventure to a meaningful close.
