About Tour Guide Maryem H.

Hi there! My name is Maryem, and I love stories, adventures, and languages—the way they connect people across time and place. Egypt is full of all of these, and I would love to share them with you.

I became a tour guide because I wanted a career that combined travel, culture, and meeting people from around the world. What started as curiosity became a journey I am truly grateful for. I studied history to become a licensed tour guide, and my passion for Egyptian history continues far beyond my studies.

Whether you are fascinated by Ancient Egypt, curious about Islamic Cairo, or interested in Coptic history, I would be happy to guide you through Egypt’s rich and layered past. I believe storytelling has the power to bring silent stones and ancient places back to life, helping us connect with the people who came before us—and with one another.

As someone who loves learning from different cultures, meeting travelers from around the world has always inspired me. I speak both English and Japanese, which allows me to connect with a wide range of visitors and create experiences that feel personal, engaging, and memorable.

Beyond historical tours, I also enjoy creating off-the-beaten-path experiences, from cultural activities to nature adventures, tailored to what you are most excited to experience in Egypt.

When you explore Egypt with me, I will show you the country through the eyes of a true Cairene who deeply loves her city—blending history, culture, and modern local life. From the timeless pyramids of Giza to the vibrant streets of Cairo and the coastal charm of Alexandria, I look forward to welcoming you and sharing my beloved country with you.

Feel free to contact me and customize your ideal tour—I would be delighted to help you experience Egypt in a meaningful way.

An Outstanding Guide and a Wonderful Person

I had the pleasure of doing a private walking tour of Cairo’s City of the Dead with Maryem, and it was one of the highlights of my trip to Egypt. Maryem is incredibly kind, warm, and genuine. Her English is impeccable, making every conversation effortless, and her knowledge of Cairo’s history and culture is outstanding. It’s obvious that she is passionate about what she does, and she shares her knowledge with authenticity and enthusiasm. She went above and beyond from the very beginning by arranging a pickup for me from my hotel in New Cairo and even coming out with the driver to meet me to make sure everything went smoothly. Throughout the tour, she took me to fascinating places that I never would have discovered on my own and provided thoughtful insights that brought everything to life. During the tour, I mentioned that I wanted to stop for a bite to eat, and Maryem chose a fantastic restaurant with incredible atmosphere and ambience. It was exactly the kind of local place I was hoping to experience and was the perfect break during the tour. At the end of the tour, she even let me use her phone as a hotspot so I could book an Uber and stayed with me until she knew my ride had arrived safely. It was such a thoughtful gesture and speaks volumes about the kind of person she is. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely caring guide in Cairo, don’t hesitate to book Maryem. She is absolutely wonderful, and I would happily tour with her again.

Thank you so much, Laura, for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. It really means a lot to me. I'm so glad you considered this tour one of the highlight of your trip because it's a very very special one, and I always love it when travelers get to enjoy its uniqueness. It was truly my pleasure to meet such an elegant beautiful lady like you. As for the other things with the ride or the hotspot that's nothing, and the least I can do you're guest in my city and you trusted me so I have to make sure you're safe and happy. I can't wait to see you again if you ever have the chance to come back to Cairo. :)

Spiritual and cultural gems of Cairo

Our tour of Islamic Cairo was the highlight of our entire trip. Maryem has deep knowledge of the historical significance and culture, blending this with the current practices. Visiting the Imam Shafi mausoleum and exploring Ahl al-Bayt sites were truly inspirational. She was flexible and tailored the tour to our interests, including mosques, historical sites and a visit to the vibrant khan-el-khalil market. I did several tours with Maryem and she is excellent!
