The river Nile divided Luxor to east and west bank where they used to see there sun god rise from Karnak temple to die at the west bank where they dig tombs and built funerary temples to follow their god's journey into the afterlife.
Today I would like to show you my city from my eyes view. To discover the oldest and most ancient Egyptian site in all of Egypt.

Meeting Point

Meeting
After pick-up, we start to go to west bank of Luxor.
Valley of the Kings
Start by visiting the Valley of the Kings and visiting the three most important tombs in it.
Hatshepsut Temple
Then proceed to the unique Temple of the Female Pharaoh Hatshepsut.
Hatshepsut was one of the few females in ancient history who ruled Egypt. She ruled for about 20 years, following her brother and husband Tuthmosis II. Her name is immortal because of her temple that we are visiting at Deir El-Bahari in Luxor today.
Valley of the Queens
we will visit Vallay of the Queens.
Lunch
At a local restaurant serving Egyptian cuisine.
Dier el Madina
We will visit Dier El Madina.
Habu Temple
We will visit Habu temple.
Colossi of Memnon
We will stop at the Colossi of Memnon for a photo opportunity.

“West Bank - but not with Mahmoud O!”
When I booked this tour (and Karnak the previous day) I asked Mahmoud O if he would be personally be the guide, which he confirmed - but he wasn't! Mohamed turned up instead. The West Bank tour was better, maybe because Mohamed had relaxed a little with us. He listened and conversed more. In particular he gave us a great tour, with explanations, of Medinet Habu, which was a highlight of our trip. So we were happy with Mohamed!

When booking I had asked Mahmoud O if he personally would be the guide and he confirmed that he would be - but he wasn't. Mohamed turned up instead. Mohamed was very competent in his knowledge but worked very much to a script and was not strong on conversation. He did give us free time and I used that to check out areas of Karnak which he hadn't mentioned but which interested me. The tour was perfectly acceptable but not quite to expectations from reviews of Mahmoud O.
