French Riviera: Off the beaten path to mountains villages
A superb and unusual trip in the nature through a beautiful canyon to little Middle Ages villages very few tourists know.
This is my fresh air tour away ofrom the tourist crowd, perfect for a family with children.
Extraordinary views over Southern Alps, lunch by a lake (1500 m/4500 ft), unique church from the 10th century.
Another unknown side of the hidden Riviera which doesn't only offer seaside places.

Driving a beautiful canyon about 1h to the first village, Lantosque, walk the village, coffee and fresh croissant from the little family run bakery, the bread here is just amazing.
Second village
We continue through the same canyon to Saint Martin Vésubie our next stop. It's a bigger village typical of the Alps, walk the village, pretty church and narrow little streets with the river running inside the village.
The lake
We drive all the way up to Lake Boréon (1500 m/4500 ft), walk around the lake to the spectacular water fall, lunch by the lake surrounded by high picks. A real French Alps atmosphere.
Ski resort activities
We now reach La Colmiane, a small ski resort where you can do summer sledge rides (perfect for a family with children), it's good fun. The view over the mountains is fantastic.
A unique village
Our last stop is in Saint Dalmas Valdeblore my favourite village, medieval atmosphere and a unique 10th church very few tourists know. We stop for a drink and relax in a very pretty field under apple trees.
Back to Nice
Driving back to Nice through another canyon. End of the tour around 17.00.
Ending Point

“Excellent tour with Jean Fran?ois ”
He organised a tour purely in easy French for our English pupils visiting nice. We all had a great time, learned a lot and discovered Nice's little gems. We highly recommend Jean-François for your tours.
