09:00 AM

Meeting Point

At your hotel

- Your guide meet you at your hotel, apartment, river cruise port, or any centrally located spot in Budapest. Please let us know your accommodation details in advance so we can plan a smooth and comfortable pick-up. If you prefer to meet at a public location, a convenient and easy-to-find meeting point in the city center can also be arranged. Clear instructions and exact timing will be shared before the tour to ensure a relaxed and worry-free start to your day.

09:00 AM

Budapest

After leaving the capital city, the order of our first destination may vary depending on the services , weddings, or special religous events held.

In some cases, we begin the day by heading north toward Szentendre, where we enjoy a relaxed introduction to the Danube Bend with its charming streets and riverside atmosphere.

On other occasions, we may travel directly toward Esztergom, allowing us to reach Hungary’s former royal capital earlier in the day.

This flexible routing helps us avoid congestion and make the most of our time at each location.

The day is always adjusted to provide a smooth, comfortable, and enjoyable experience.

10:30 AM

Esztergom (the former capital of Hungary)

Upon arrival, we visit the Esztergom Basilica, Hungary’s largest church and one of its most important religious landmarks.

Guests have the opportunity to explore the impressive interior of the Basilica, including its vast dome, artworks, and historical atmosphere.

For those who prefer a more relaxed alternative, a short local wine tasting can be arranged at the nearby Prímás Pince, offering a pleasant introduction to Hungarian wines.

Both options take place within easy walking distance, allowing the group to reunite comfortably afterward.

This stop in Esztergom combines history, culture, scenic views, and local flavors at a relaxed pace.

12:20 PM

Visegrád, a medieval town with breathtaking panoramic views

In Visegrád, we explore the medieval history of the former royal seat and learn about the famous Visegrád Congress, which played a key role in Central European history.

During our visit, we discover how the royal palace, the well, and the surrounding fortifications were constructed and developed over the centuries.

The stories introduce us to important Hungarian rulers such as Matthias Corvinus, Sigismund of Luxembourg, Béla IV, and Louis the Great, up to the period of the Ottoman invasion.

From the hilltop citadel, we marvel at the breathtaking panoramic view over the Danube Bend before continuing our journey.

01:30 PM

Optional snack or lunch break

An optional snack or lunch break can be arranged during the tour, depending on timing and guest preferences.

This stop may take place in Visegrád or Szentendre, both offering pleasant riverside restaurants and traditional Hungarian cuisine.

Guests can enjoy classic Hungarian dishes such as goulash soup, chicken paprikash, seasonal specialties, or lighter local options.

For guests who prefer a lighter break, there is also the option to enjoy just a cup of tea or coffee with a small cake or pastry in a cozy local café.

This relaxed pause is perfect for recharging while taking in the riverside atmosphere before continuing the tour.

03:00 PM

Szentendre the artist village

In Szentendre, we enjoy a relaxed walking tour through the town’s narrow streets, colorful squares, and riverside paths.

Along the way, we hear the story of Rab Ráby, learn about the origin of the name linked to Saint Andrew, and explore the charming main square.

The walk reveals how settlers arriving from the Mediterranean shaped the town’s architecture, atmosphere, and lifestyle.

We discover Szentendre’s vibrant art scene, including the legacy of Margit Kovács, small galleries, and local workshops.

Your guide also introduces the surroundings, such as the nearby Skanzen and the tranquil Szentendre Island, highlighting why Szentendre remains one of Hungary’s most artistic towns.

03:50 PM

Option to try some local snack

This is another optional activity during your time in Szentendre.

You may choose to enjoy a traditional chimney cake (kürtőskalács) or lángos, or visit the famous Marzipan Museum.

These light, enjoyable options add a playful and flavorful touch to your visit and can be selected based on your interests and available time.

04:30 PM

Return to Budapest

At the end of the tour, we return to Budapest and ensure a comfortable and smooth drop-off according to your plans.

Your guide can take you back to your hotel or apartment, or to any pre-arranged meeting point within the city.

If needed, drop-off can also be arranged at Budapest Airport, a railway station, or a river cruise pier, making it easy to connect with onward travel.

The timing and location are always flexible and adapted to your schedule, allowing the day to end in a relaxed and stress-free way.

Please feel free to share your preferred drop-off details in advance so everything can be arranged seamlessly.

“A tour guide who goes above all Expectations ”

We approached Gabor through Go with Guide about a tour to Tiszadob and he was very accommodating in making it happen. He took the research that we had obtained and through his dedication enhanced it by providing resources and research on his own. He made arrangements to meet with a church official who had the baptism records of our relatives. We visited the inside of the church where our relatives worshipped. We drove through Tiszadob to see the town as it is today not much changed from years long ago. We took a tour of the local Andrássy Castle which was very interesting experience. Gabor then had us meet with a local family who had roots that matched our own. We talked for a hour and then went with them to the local cemetery to visit graves of their and possibly our families. I cannot express enough how much Gabor went over and above to make this a wonderful experience for our family. I would recommend him highly to lead any tour to search for your family roots our take a tour of Budapest.

“Well above and beyond Gabor is our hero!”

Gabor put in so much time and effort to make our trip to Zics one of the most memorable treasures of our lives. We were surprised to met 12 relatives we never knew we had, exchanged family information and were treated to lunch and homemade pastries. Gabor was a wonderfully informed driver, interpreter, and now friend.

“Seeing the sites with an incredible Guide”

We first contacted Gabor about a tour outside Budapest but also inquired about a half day tour of Budapest itself. We also asked to be taken to a restaurant specializing in Hungarian food. Picked up on time we began an amazing tour of the sights of Budapest by comfortable Mercedes van.Gabor provided a running commentary of what we were seeing and the history of each location. We made many stops to walk and see up close the many sites on the Buda side. We then explored many locations in Pest including the Jewish Quarter. Gabor’s restaurant selection was spot on and delicious. He provided background of dishes, local customs and toasts in Hungarian. We also discussed our upcoming tour to the countryside to search our Hungarian roots. Could not have been more pleased with Gabor and his tour. I recommend highly.
