National Museum
After departing from your hotel or accommodation, within 30 minutes to 1 hour, you will visit the National Museum, popularly known as the “Elephant Museum” due to the prominent elephant statue in its forecourt. The museum houses one of the most extensive collections in Southeast Asia, with around 141,000 preserved items covering Indonesia’s entire territory, including prehistoric artifacts, archaeological finds, ethnographic pieces, art, historical objects, and geographical displays. Your guide will provide explanations for each exhibit, and photography is welcome inside the museum. While waiting for the driver afterward, you can take photos in front of the museum’s iconic elephant statue before continuing the trip to Istiqlal Mosque.
Istiqlal Mosque
Upon arriving at the mosque, you will have the opportunity to take photos outside before entering with other travelers from the joined tour, accompanied by our representative. Before going inside, appropriate clothing will be provided, and shoes must be removed in accordance with mosque regulations. Istiqlal Mosque, also known as the Independence Mosque, is the largest mosque in Southeast Asia and ranks as the ninth largest in the world by worshipper capacity. After the visit, you will cross the street for another remarkable experience — exploring the historic old church.
Jakarta Cathedral
Upon arriving at the Cathedral, we will take some photos outside before going in for a brief visit. Located almost directly opposite the mosque, the Cathedral stands as a symbol of peace and religious tolerance. This historic church predates the mosque, with roots tracing back to the Dutch colonial era. The current neo-Gothic structure, consecrated in 1901, was rebuilt on the same site. Situated near Merdeka Square, the Presidential Palace, and directly across from Istiqlal Mosque, the Cathedral is conveniently visited in the same stop. Afterward, we will continue our journey with sightseeing and a photo stop at the National Monument.
National Monument (MONAS)
After visiting the Cathedral, we will head toward Chinatown, passing by the Presidential Palace along the way. We will stop briefly to take photos of the National Monument — a 132-meter obelisk located at the center of Merdeka Square. This iconic landmark symbolizes Indonesia’s struggle for independence and serves as a proud emblem of the nation’s capital. It’s one of the best photo spots in Jakarta, allowing you to capture the moment without waiting in line to take the lift to the top. After the photo stop, we’ll continue the journey, either taking some time to enjoy local food or proceeding directly to Chinatown, which is just 15 minutes away.
Glodok Chinatown
Jakarta’s Chinatown, dating back to the old era, is home to a historic pagoda built in 1650. As the largest Chinatown in Indonesia, it is one of the busiest and most captivating areas to explore. Here, you can visit the bustling market and a prominent temple that serves as a place of worship for Taoists, Confucians, and Buddhists. The area is rich in history, with architecture and cultural heritage that tell stories from centuries past. This tour offers a chance to experience a remarkable heritage site you won’t want to miss.
Lunch at Batavia Cafe
The most recommended Restaurant in Town, Batavia Cafe. Exclusive of the tour fee, lunch can be provided here, or at another restaurant depending on your request.
Old Town Batavia (Kota Tua)
Upon arriving by car at Old Town Batavia, locally known as Kota Tua, the guide will share insights about its history, reflecting centuries of European influence in Indonesia. The area is filled with buildings showcasing both European and Chinese architectural styles. Originally built in the 17th century as the town hall, the main square served as the center of the Dutch VOC colonial era. From here, we will continue the tour with a visit to the Puppet (Wayang) Studio.
Fatahillah Square
This special experience allows you to uncover the rich history of Old Town with our expert guide. You’ll explore the entire area on foot, visiting ruins and engaging with an archaeologist. Discover the first building of Jayakarta, along with the castle, bastion, spice warehouse, and other significant historical sites.
Makutharama Puppet Studio
Still within the Old Town area, many buildings from the colonial era — once used as offices, churches, and banks — have now been transformed into museums, studios, and cafés. One of these buildings houses a puppet studio, a charming attraction where you can see how puppets are made and enjoy a short 9-minute performance, time permitting. It’s also a great spot to find unique souvenirs if you’re interested.
Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa
Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa, also know as The Old Harbour, located not far from Old Town and passing by the Kota Intan Bridge, marks the starting point of the city’s history — where traders and sailors first arrived, eventually settling and colonizing the area. In the 15th century, it was the largest and busiest harbor, dominated by various Asian ethnic groups before the arrival of Europeans. Today, it remains active for logistic and trading purposes, with traditional Phinisi boats still in use. This marks the final stop of the tour, after which we will return to the hotel, a journey of approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.
