Cheonggye Plaza and Stream
Cheonggye Stream was a playground and laundry area for the people of Seoul under the name of Clear City. It originates from Mt. Bukak and Mt. Inwang, and flows eastward through central Seoul, before merging with the Jungnang Stream into the Han River. It is a stream that combines natural and artificial streams and officially opened on Oct. 1, 2005. In the past, Cheonggye stream was flooded with water due to its narrow stream, causing a lot of damage to many houses. After the Korean War, many shanty towns were built around Cheonggye stream, and the water was polluted by sewage and had a bad smell. Therefore, from 1967 to 1976, the construction of an overpass covering the Cheonggye stream was carried out. In 2003, a large-scale project was underway to restore the Cheonggye stream in Seoul. At that time, the Cheonggye Overpass was built more than 30 years ago and there was a high risk of collapse. Therefore, the Cheonggye Overpass was demolished and a 5.8-km section, which is about half of the total length of 11km, has been restored to its original shape. Now, many visitors can enjoy leisurely walks while exploring great waterways and acting as a comfortable shelter.
HiKr Ground
HiKr Ground, opened at the Seoul Center of the Korea Tourism Organization, is a Korea Tourism Promotion Center where visitors can experience K-pop and watch media art at the same time. HiKr Ground's name implies that Korea (KR) will greet each other and become a playground for global travelers. The first floor is where visitors can enjoy various media arts through the HiKr Wall media. On the second floor, visitors can experience creating K-pop music videos using XR Live Studio. The third floor is HiKr Street, and it is a regular exhibition where Korea's natural cultural contents are implemented with the latest technologies such as AR and XR. Another attraction to see is the Cheonggye Stream from HiKr Ground.
Pimat-Gol and Korean Food
Pimat-gil is a narrow alley formed on the left and right sides of today's Jongno, Namdaemun-ro, and Donhawmun-ro, which are the main roads of Hanyang, the capital city of the Joseon Dynasty. Houses and shops around the alley are collectively called Pimatgol. 'Pima' means to avoid horses, and it is named because low-ranking officials and the common people used a detour to avoid high-ranking officials. Pubs and restaurants for the common people were formed around Pimatgol, and their name has still been handed down in the 21st century, which underwent modernization and expansion of downtown Seoul. In the newly built shopping district of Pimatgol, there is a marketplace that implements a restaurant where a exists with a license from a parasitic houseguest (comic). It was also used as a filming location for the movie 'Mimang'.
Here in Pimatgol, you can eat a variety of Korean food. For example, they are charcoal grilled meats, pork belly, broth to a Hangover, a variety of Korean pancakes, sundae(blood sausages), pork feet, dumplings, and sea food.

“Change of plans”
I was not able to go on this tour due to a medical issue, but Charlie was kind enough to take me to a lovely lunch and drive me to the airport when I had to cut my trip short.

“An interesting and informative day with Charlie”
Bad weather must be a tour guides nightmare - and we had it all. Rain, sleet, snow and wind, yet Charlie kept us entertained, informed and as dry as possible (he even brought us plastic rain coats to use). He was kind, courteous and answered all questions. Charlie is an experienced tour guide and it showed, the day flew by and a great time was had by all.
