Yeonmijeong Pavilion
It is a historic riverside pavilion located in the northern part of Ganghwa-do Island, overlooking the Imjin-gang River. It once served as both a scenic retreat for scholars and officials and a strategic lookout point, due to its location near the border. Today, Yeonmijeong is cherished for its peaceful atmosphere, panoramic river views, and deep connection to Korean history.
Ganghwa Jejeokbong Peace Observatory
From here, visitors can see across the border into North Korea, including parts of Gaeseong. It offers a quiet, reflective space with displays about the Korean War and hopes for reunification. The observatory is both a scenic viewpoint and a reminder of the ongoing division of the Korean Peninsula.
Lunch Time
Lunch is a great opportunity to experience Korea’s rich culinary traditions. Dining at a local restaurant gives you a deeper connection to everyday Korean life. I’ll recommend a few restaurants, and you can choose one based on your own preferences. Please note that the cost of the meal is not included.
(Choice 1)Tea time at Joyang Bangjik Café (Western-style café) + Gwangseongbo Fortress

It is a unique cultural space located on Ganghwa-do Island, transformed from a former textile factory built in 1933. The old factory structure and machines have been preserved, giving the café a nostalgic, vintage atmosphere. Inside, you’ll find retro decorations, art displays, and quirky photo zones that blend past and present. The café offers a wide selection of drinks and desserts, including hand-drip coffee and homemade cakes.
Gwangseongbo Fortress
Gwangseongbo is a historic fortress on Ganghwa-do Island built during the Joseon Dynasty to defend against foreign invasions. It played a key role during the 19th-century conflicts, most notably during the United States expedition to Korea in 1871. The fortress walls, cannon platforms, and informative displays on-site help visitors understand Korea’s military history. Walking along the fortress offers beautiful views of the surrounding sea and landscape. It remains an important symbol of Korean resilience and defense.
(You may choose one café based on your preference. Please pay individually for drinks or desserts.)
(Choice 2) Gwangseongbo Fortress + Tea time at Dosol Hanok Cafe & Gallery (Traditional Korean-style café)

It’s a wonderful place to experience Korean spirituality and history.

It is a peaceful and scenic beach on Ganghwa-do Island, known for its soft sand and calm waters. During low tide, wide mudflats appear, where visitors can explore and find small sea creatures like crabs and clams. It’s a great spot for families and those who enjoy nature.
