Gear up for the Iztaccihuatl Hiking Tour. Our journey begins by driving through the picturesque Valley of Mexico, admiring the landscapes and the standing volcanoes.

Soon, we arrive at Paso de Cortes, a mountain pass nestled between the mighty guardians of the land, the Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl volcanoes. At 3400 m altitude, the air feels crisp and stimulating.

We’ll soon be in La Joya, a mountain hut perched at a breathtaking elevation of 3977 m. Here, surrounded by nature’s splendor, the conquer trek of 4-hours begins towards the snow line of the volcano.

As we ascend the slopes of Iztaccihuatl, you’ll be rewarded with the marveling panorama, revealing the awe beauty of the Valley of Mexico and the sight of Popocatepetl, Mexico’s second-tallest volcano.

After defeating the giant guardians, we head to the charming town of Amecameca. Delight in exploring its beautiful historic center and savoring the local food specialties.

Tour Important Information
• Vehicle: The type of vehicle depends on the size of your group and may include a car, 7-seater, or minivan.
• Physical condition: This tour involves ~5-6 h of hiking with an elevation gain of ~400-700 m (depending on your fitness level and hiking skills), so travelers should have a moderate physical condition.
• Acclimatization: During this tour, we will reach a height of over 4400 m (vs ~2300 m in Mexico City). Therefore, travelers coming from lower altitudes should preferably stay at least 1-2 days in Mexico City upon arrival for adaptation to avoid altitude sickness.
• Hiking route: By default, we follow the standard route described in the tour description. However, due to unfavorable weather or a limited number of daily visitor permits in Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl National Park (if permits are unavailable on the day of your booking, we won’t be able to reach the standard trailhead by car and will need to hike 2 hours from the park entrance), the route may change without prior notice.
