My name is Miroslava. I'm a native of Xochimilco and a proud winner of the most meaningful beauty contest in CDMX 'La flor más bella del ejido' 2006. Because of this, I became a cultural ambassador and guardian of my culture and community. I learned embroidery from my grandma when I was 12 years old, and later on, I continued learning from handcrafter friends from different communities around Mexico. I've been teaching and holding workshops on embroidery since 2010. In 2012, I launched a brand/workshop called "TRAMA", which now, after 13 years of experience and building a community of handcrafters, offers not only artisanal products and workshops but also unique experiences to visit and live Xochimilco's culture and nature.

I am a México City local who is in love with it. I love my whole country but I love my city more. I have studied International Relations and Mexican gastronomy and it's history. I work as a tourist guide and in films as a chaperone; in there my job is to receive and take care of foreign producers and actors. Among the task, I take them to eat, party and find stuff that doesn't exist ( yes that happens). As there are different requirements for this jobs I get to know the different parts of the culture, the exclusive, fancy, curious, popular, untidy; the whole ideosincrasy. I am a serious foodie, also enthusiast about, coffee, beer, wine, mezcal and pulque (prehispanic drink). I like to collect hidden jewels from my city and I also like to cook but preferably with the proper calm and telling the story and culture around the food. In order to have some balance I am sportively very active, I practice football soccer and rugby, also willing to go outdoors anytime. When I was about to enter to study I wanted to do something good for my country; this jobs are a great way to do it, I am proud to show my culture. I also like the fact that I get to learn from visitors, their way of seeing the world. It is very rewarding when visitors leave happy.

Mariana P. Born and raised in Mexico City, Mariana did her basic education there and she was General Manager at the Mexico City Hostel in downtown, to begin her career in tourist industry in 2008. Eight years later, she started her training as Tour Guide at the National School of Anthropology and History (ENAH) and worked as volunteer in the library of the Aztec Major Temple Museum (Museo del Templo Mayor) thanks to which she became a specialized guide in site achieving important and valuable information of the Aztec ruins and the archaeological collection in there, since she was actually guiding tours in the Museum. Later in time, when the Tour Guide training was concluded, Mariana became a proudly licensed Guide and she worked for the Popular Arts Museum (Museo de Arte Popular) doing handicraft workshops to special skills & handicap kids. At the National Museum of Anthropology and History, she did textiles restoration work to rescue the collection of antiques inside the Museum on 2017. At the Palace of the Fine Arts (Palacio de Bellas Artes) she was welcoming and guiding people to the “Mexican red” exhibition 2017-2018 about the use of grana cochinilla, a bug used to get the famous red color in paintings like “Van Gogh's bedroom in Arles” and “The Deposition of Christ”, by Tintoretto. Back to the official school ENAH, she is currently studying Social Anthropology and still working as Tour Guide driving cultural, historic and archaeological private tours in Mexico City and its surroundings, to people from all over the world, interested to know more of this country. In preparation for our visit to Mexico City last week, my husband found this tour concentrating on Frido Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Our guide, Roberto was charming and INCREDIBLY well versed about Frido Kahlo, Diego Rivera as well as the wonderful Mexican art scene and how it was effected by Mexico's fascinating history. The indigenous sculptures which Frida and Diego collected were fascinating and Roberto educated us about their meaning, etc. We highly recommend Roberto as a guide and believe there are very few topics that he couldn't discuss superbly! Thank you Roberto for making our brief visit to Mexico City fun, interesting and educational!

“Great overall experience ”
The whole experience was first rate. Hilary has an excellent knowledge base about the history of the pyramids and great language skills to communicate both in English and Spanish Picked up at our hotel in comfortable vehicle and was willing to drop us off at the center city although I am sure represented extra work/ driving for her. In addition to her insights about Teotihuacan offered helpful advice about other attractions/ restaurants etc in the city. Definitely worth the extra investment to have a private trip and highly recommend booking with Hilary.
