I won't tell those exaggerated legends. I will still tell you some interesting folk stories, but I will clearly tell you which ones are true history and which ones are just stories. Hangzhou, known as Paradise on Earth, with the poetic West Lake, is the most beautiful major city in China. It has a history of more than 2000 years, once being the capital of ancient China. Hangzhou is a modern metropolis with amazing city views and a good destination for shopping. Hangzhou also produces the best green tea in China, high quality silk, a lot of famous handcrafts like fans, scissors, copper ware, and of cause delicious authentic Chinese food. Hangzhou has very convenient transportation. It is only 1 hour's ride away from Shanghai by bullet train. I highly recommend you make Hangzhou a stop when you visit China. About myself – Sharona L. My parents made Aliya= emigrated from Philadelphia to Israel in 1963. So I was born in 1970 and raised here as a "sabra" – that’s what native Israelis call themselves. I grew up hearing both English and Hebrew in my home. My family – parents, 3 siblings and myself – always liked travelling and nature. Camping and hiking are a good part of my best childhood memories. As a teenager I joined a youth hiking club which was based in the Judean Desert. The club belonged to the SPNI – Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel. During our hikes we also learned about the geology, biology and history of the places we visited. I knew already back then, that this is what I wanted to do with my life – hike in nature and visit interesting sites and places. After graduating high school I did my mandatory service in the Israel Defense Forces. I was a gardener, and fiercely fought against all weeds in the army bases I served in… When released from service, I went to study "Land of Israel Studies" at the Beit-Berl Teachers College. I received a B.Ed in geography and my official Tour Guide certification from the Ministry of Tourism in 1995. I have been a tour guide ever since. I love my job, and I love my country. I named both my sons after mountains in Israel – Tavor (20), and Bental (17).

After having visited each archaeological site over 60 times, each time with another local guide, I decided to study Mexican History and Archaeology, inspired by some of the local guides who told the tourists that the Mayas landed from Mars in spaceships. I am specialized in Maya culture. Working with people and showing them different cultures is what fascinates me. In 2004, I started off with the big tour companies like TUI and Thomas Cook, who commercialized the trips from 28 days and reduced it to 12 days. I did that for 10 years, after which I went on as a private tour guide/driver for small groups.
