Its mangrove forests, inter-tidal mudflats, riverine habitats and marshlands host unique wildlife such as the mudskipper, tree-climbing crab, Saltwater Crocodile, and the Smooth Otter. It is an important site for migratory birds visiting from Siberia and northern Asia.
