About Tour Guide Susana A.
Olá! Hi! I’m Izzy!
Thank you for stopping by! Hopefully Porto is next on your list!
Originally from Lisbon, I moved to Porto in 1998 to study Biology. I even tried life in a research lab, but quickly realised that working with microscopes 24/7 meant missing something essential: people. And I’m definitely a people person.
So I followed another passion - Fashion - which took me to Paris for a year to study Image, Communication and Protocol in Politics & Business. While working in this field, I was invited to organise and accompany private tours around Portugal. And just like that, I found my true calling!
Although I divide my time between Porto and Lisbon, Porto is the city I chose as home (for more than half my life now). Its character, history, food, wine and beautifully complicated soul make it impossible not to fall in love. This is why my tours are not about memorised dates or scripted speeches. They are storytelling experiences: with a deep knowledge of Portuguese history and culture (and a family that lived on both sides of the dictatorship) I bring history to life through real stories, hidden layers, and the kind of insights you won’t find in guidebooks. You won’t hear historical myths repeated just because they sound good, or be dragged into tourist traps disguised as “must-sees”. And you definitely won’t get a superficial version of Porto.
If you enjoy discovering the heart of a place - not just ticking boxes - then we’ll get along perfectly. And if you're comparing prices, I’ll leave you with Warren Buffett’s timeless wisdom: “Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.”
Hope to meet you soon in Porto!
Izzy

Suasana went above and beyond for our group. She found a driver that could accommodate our large group and changed the tour to fit our schedule. Would do again.

“Susana IS outstanding! ”
Susana was an excellent communicator from the start with putting the MANY things I wanted to see/experience into an itinerary that I was delighted with! Susana had great visuals and shared many stories about Porto/Portugal history. Her in-depth knowledge was remarkable. I also enjoyed the delicious lunch establishment we ate at and the surprise treat of Pastel de Nata! Don’t hesitate to book Susana for your private experience. She will NOT disappoint you!

Hello, I'm Magda and I would be so pleased to host your in my hometown Porto and/or other towns in the Northern Portugal. I graduated in History of Art at Faculty of Humanities, University of Porto, worked as a teacher, art gallerist, bookseller and finally as a tour guide (and I loved all these previous jobs!). My tours are focused on Architecture, Art and History, but the charm of Porto goes beyond that: traditions, legends, secrets, food... My main purpose is to show you what really makes us different and unique. (sometimes I'm the traveler, taking pictures of my favorite spots - you check the gallery :-) I'm available and pleased to create the best plan for you, according to your preferences. Looking forward to meeting you! Best

Hello, I'm João. I was born in Coimbra, and I have a degree in Anthropology, and master's degree in Cultural heritage, management and programming. I am a certified guide. I love meeting new people and helping them get to know my country better. If you enjoy history and want to learn more about our culture and traditions, I think my tours are the best choice for you. I work mainly in the city of Coimbra, and around. I am based in Coimbra region, but I am also available for tours in Lisbon, Aveiro, or Porto. I will be happily suggesting you a full customized tour in these 3 cities. Please send me a request, just customize your request. This is just a suggestion, but If you are very interested in history and would like to take an original tour in Lisbon, we can visit various archaeological sites in Lisbon (such as Roman cisterns, city walls, and Iron Age neighborhoods), sometimes walking through unexpected places, such as shopping malls or under hotels, banks, churches, and even bathrooms (public, clean)... History is where you least expect it. Thank you!
