Tour Important Information
* Porto is a historic city built on steep hills, with many streets paved in traditional polished cobblestones. While this adds to the city’s charm, it can sometimes make walking uneven or slippery. For your comfort and safety, I strongly recommend wearing comfortable footwear with good grip, ideally rubber-soled shoes suitable for walking on cobbled streets and slopes.
* For guests who prefer an even more comfortable experience, I can arrange a premium vehicle with a professional driver. This service can include hotel pick-up and drop-off and, if desired, a private vehicle escort throughout the tour to reduce walking distances and make moving between sites easier. If you are interested, please message me for a customized quote and include the name and address of your hotel or accommodation so I can organize the best option for you.
* Please note that some monuments, churches, and historical sites may occasionally close without prior notice due to religious services, public holidays, restoration work, or special events. When this happens, the itinerary may be slightly adjusted to ensure you still enjoy a complete and rewarding experience while discovering the city’s highlights.
* For personal expenses such as cafés, small shops, or optional tastings, I recommend carrying some Euros in cash. Portugal uses the Euro as its official currency, and most local businesses do not accept other currencies.
My goal is to make your time in Porto smooth, enjoyable, and memorable. If you have any questions before booking, feel free to contact me — I’ll be happy to help you plan the perfect experience.

About Tour Guide Susana A.
Olá! Hi! I’m Izzy!
Thank you for stopping by! Hopefully Porto is next on your list!
Originally from Lisbon, I moved to Porto in 1998 to study Biology. I even tried life in a research lab, but quickly realised that working with microscopes 24/7 meant missing something essential: people. And I’m definitely a people person.
So I followed another passion - Fashion - which took me to Paris for a year to study Image, Communication and Protocol in Politics & Business. While working in this field, I was invited to organise and accompany private tours around Portugal. And just like that, I found my true calling!
Although I divide my time between Porto and Lisbon, Porto is the city I chose as home (for more than half my life now). Its character, history, food, wine and beautifully complicated soul make it impossible not to fall in love. This is why my tours are not about memorised dates or scripted speeches. They are storytelling experiences: with a deep knowledge of Portuguese history and culture (and a family that lived on both sides of the dictatorship) I bring history to life through real stories, hidden layers, and the kind of insights you won’t find in guidebooks. You won’t hear historical myths repeated just because they sound good, or be dragged into tourist traps disguised as “must-sees”. And you definitely won’t get a superficial version of Porto.
If you enjoy discovering the heart of a place - not just ticking boxes - then we’ll get along perfectly. And if you're comparing prices, I’ll leave you with Warren Buffett’s timeless wisdom: “Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.”
Hope to meet you soon in Porto!
Izzy

“Susana IS outstanding! ”
Susana was an excellent communicator from the start with putting the MANY things I wanted to see/experience into an itinerary that I was delighted with! Susana had great visuals and shared many stories about Porto/Portugal history. Her in-depth knowledge was remarkable. I also enjoyed the delicious lunch establishment we ate at and the surprise treat of Pastel de Nata! Don’t hesitate to book Susana for your private experience. She will NOT disappoint you!
