“Absolutely amazing tour of Porto with Joana”
If you’re looking for a fantastic tour guide, you can stop now. Just book Joana and you will have an amazing experience. Joana was prompt in all her email replies and designed the itinerary based on what we wanted - visit Lello bookshop, savour Portuguese tarts, buy vintage port and see all the iconic sights in Porto. Unfortunately our boat was 1.5 hours late to disembark due to a malfunctioning gangway. I was frantically texting Joana and she remained calm and reassuring. Despite waiting so long for us at the terminal, she still very generously gave us the full 5 hour tour, moved our Lello bookshop tickets entry time and rejigged our entire itinerary. We tasted the best Portuguese tarts, still warm from the oven, sampled port wine and purchased an excellent bottle, and toured all over Porto while she filled us with history, culture and amusing anecdotes. She also showed us some beautiful spots not on any tourist agenda. My whole family loved the day we spent with Joana, from the moment she picked us up, surprised us with a lovely picnic basket filled with drinks, snacks and really thoughtful souvenir gifts. And finally, the next day, she sent us a video she put together of al the places we had visited with her. Thank you, Joana, for sharing your beautiful city with us!

Dear May, your super kind words just fill my heart! From my side was a true pleasure to be able to show Porto to you and your beautiful and inspiring family, with such cool energy during all day! The afternoon went so fast, we explore, we laugh, we walk a bit to get the city athmosphere. But, most important of all, is that you enjoyed your time and take good memories: by the new places you saw, new country visited, new tastes like the Pastel de Nata and drinking the real Porto Wine in Porto! I love a quote that says that "when people meet, they take a bit of us and leave a bit of them", and that was the exact feeling that I got after meeting your sweet and kind family! Wishing you all the best & great travels around the globe.. and thanks again for picking me as your tour guide! Joana

“Douro Valley Tour: stunning views, excellent wine and food!”
This tour was easily my favorite experience during my vacation. Joana is a wonderful guide, very friendly, knowledgeable, and considerate. Hiring a private, local guide in Porto, Portugal, turns a visit into an extraordinary and tailored experience. One of the foremost benefits is the level of safety and security a knowledgeable guide provides. Navigating the narrow, hilly streets of Porto, especially in areas like Ribeira, can be daunting for first-time visitors. A guide ensures you explore iconic spots such as the Dom Luís I Bridge and the Livraria Lello bookstore safely, avoiding any potential time-wasting, and ensuring a worry-free adventure.
Unlike standard group tours, a private guide can personalize your itinerary to match your interests. If you are passionate about wine, they can arrange a special tour of the famous port wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia or a visit to the lesser-known but equally charming wine bars. This personalized approach ensures you see and experience exactly what you desire, making your trip uniquely yours.
To truly experience Porto and its charm, 3–4 days are typically sufficient. This allows you enough time to explore the historic Ribeira district, visit the iconic Livraria Lello, tour the famous port wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia, and take a leisurely cruise along the Douro River.
