I'm from Porto and very enthusiastic and passionate about my city's history, sights, curiosities and hidden gems. Portugal is an old country with a long history that can be explored through it's monuments, churches and little side streets, and I look forward to showing everyone its beauty and secrets! I studied Tourism at World Travel School in Amsterdam, Holland. When I finished my degree in 1992, I moved back to Porto in 1992, and have lived here ever since. I've had many tours with all kinds of different people from all over the world, and love showing off why my city has become my passion!

Porto Tour Reviews
Keith S.
“From ship to airport, a wonderful tour.”
We were leaving a river tour at 9am and needed a tour of Porto to fill 4 hours. After reviewing comments on her tour we chose Joana A, and what a great tour she made for us. My wife has mobility issues, and Joana adapted the tour in her car to suit her disability with drop offs very close to each special site around Porto, including so many photo opportunities, a very unique coffee shop, a special restaurant for lunch, and finally took us to the airport in time for our flight. Nothing was too much for Joana. If you have time after the normal river trip up the Douro. I cannot recommend enough a tour around Porto with Joana A. When we arrived home in UK she had even sent us photos of each of the sites we visited with us in shot and a fully compiled video. What a fabulous tour.

The time we spent in Porto exploring the city with you and Eira was absolutly incredible. With just few hours we were able to see all the iconic places and unique views of the city, drink a Porto wine, eat a pastel de nata, have lunch at a typical restaurant and even have great conversations and many laughts! Was a true blessing being able to show my city while the sun was coming out! Keep that amasing energy and Wishing you great travels around the world. Thanks again for picking me as your tour guide!

“Joana is the whole package!”
Joana truly is the whole package. After picking us up at our hotel, she proficiently drove us around Porto in a comfortable vehicle, in which she provided us with water and snacks-and even a special little gift. She was very focused on us and our interests. She was able to park in various locations in order for us to get out to walk and visit areas of interest. We both have mobility issues, and she was very patient and creative in helping us to find ways to see what we wanted to see despite our inability to walk to it in the normal way. Joana took pictures of us in front of so many beautiful sites to remind us of our time in Porto. She also put a video together for us. She even took us to a pastry shop and made reservations for us for lunch. As a final treat, she poured us each some port and had us toast each other in front of the “Porto” sign as a special picture memory. I would highly and definitely recommend Joana as your tour guide if you don’t want to miss the best of Porto and want a fun and informative guide along the way!

Our tour in Porto was full of places to visit and explore, not losing the hidden local streets with the daily life! The day was incredible, with an amasing sun, so we could see the colorful houses and see the city at its best. We were all creative in terms of the best way to overcome the mobility limitations, yet, we saw all the main places and was great being able to know both of you better with a toast with Porto wine and a Pastel de Nata pastry. Thanks again for picking me as your tour guide, as it was a true pleasure to be able to show you charming Porto.

“Exceptional Guide!”
I spent the most delightful day in Porto with Joana! If you are looking for a real pro she is the one. Unfortunately due to illness my husband was unable to accompany me... Joana was flexible with timing and was the best sidekick I could have asked for in Porto. Besides being so delightful to be with, Joana is, as she states PASSIONATE about her country and so knowledgeable about every charming street and site we visited. Joana took photos and videos of our tour to share with my husband so he did not feel like he missed anything (except meeting her in person). I loved learning about her family and world travels which certainly added to the personal nature of this tour. My only wish is that I could have booked more destinations with this wonderful woman!

Our day discovering Porto was indeed an amasing day. From the moment i picked you up at the Boat Terminal, time passed so fast, and we were able to explore all the main city locations and had such fun conversation, while eating a warm Pastel de Nata or just spending some time shopping portuguese porcelain! Was a girls day, and i did my best to compensate the fact your husband could not join us, that was really a pitty! Was honestly a day with a friend, as we were able to enjoy the city and its culture, while we travelled to other destinations by sharing travelling stories. Was such a special day with Gale, an easy going spirit and always with positive energy towards the day! Thanks again for picking me as your tour guide, was a true pleasure for me to show you Porto.
Porto Private Tour Guide
Experience Porto’s sights and sounds authentically with a private tour guide. Gain local insight, see Porto’s hidden gems, and discover how to enjoy it all.
Hiring a private, local guide in Porto, Portugal, turns a visit into an extraordinary and tailored experience. One of the foremost benefits is the level of safety and security a knowledgeable guide provides. Navigating the narrow, hilly streets of Porto, especially in areas like Ribeira, can be daunting for first-time visitors. A guide ensures you explore iconic spots such as the Dom Luís I Bridge and the Livraria Lello bookstore safely, avoiding any potential time-wasting, and ensuring a worry-free adventure.
Unlike standard group tours, a private guide can personalize your itinerary to match your interests. If you are passionate about wine, they can arrange a special tour of the famous port wine cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia or a visit to the lesser-known but equally charming wine bars. This personalized approach ensures you see and experience exactly what you desire, making your trip uniquely yours.
