About

★Enjoy not only Guided tour but also Professional photo shoot in Kyoto!★

"Hi, my name is Koichi.

I am a licensed tour guide specializing in Kyoto. I can take memorable picture of you by using my own authentic camera and lens. Photo shoot experience is included in guide fee.

I have a great love for Kyoto City, from its major tourist attractions to some of its lesser known, tranquil and peaceful sites. I would be glad to conduct the tour according to your interests and share with you my knowledge of the city's rich history as well as its cultural and seasonal events.

Since both my high school and university days were located in Kyoto, I know not only all the city’s shrines and temples but also great local restaurants that serve traditional Japanese cuisine at a reasonable price. So, for example, if you are interested in a traditional Izakaya experience, please let me know, I know the perfect place and I will be glad to escort you there after the tour.

As an added bonus, I am an experienced, award winning photographer and I would be happy to take photos of you during the tour with my DSLR camera and then email them to you after the tour.

Additionally, I love motorcycle touring as my hobby and I enjoy taking pictures of Kyoto’s beautiful landscape. Therefore, talking about and showing off Kyoto’s scenery with my guests is one of my pleasures as well as explaining the traditional Kyoto culture.

My native city of Otsu is famous for Lake Biwa which is located just 10 minutes train ride from Kyoto station. It is not only an ideal location for the easy access to the ancient capital city but also for having an amazing visitor’s viewing location.

Therefore, whether you are wishing to explore Kyoto’s traditional heritage, sample the fantastic food that Kyoto offers or take a trip off the beaten path, I am the guide for you!

Excellent one-day tour in Kyoto

Koichi was the guide for my 12 year old son and I for one day in Kyoto (September 2019). Koichi met us at the hotel on time and our day was planned nicely by Koichi to correspond to the specific time we had alloted (not a lot of "down time" and we also were by no means "rushed"). It was a warm day and Koichi worked hard throughout the day to make our day informative, as relaxed as it could be with the temparature, and fun. Koichi is extremely knowledgeable about the history and background of Japan religions, including Buddhism and Shinto and thus was able to articulate some of the key differences in the temples/shrines we visited and how it correlates to history. His knowledge and experience was also helpful in pointing out some of the specific architectual nuances and religious symbols embedded in the architecture. Other: a) Koichi's English was very good and it was easy to communicate with him. He chose a lovely traditional Japanese restaurant for lunch which my son enjoyed. b) Koichi was able to answer all of my questions (and my son's!) and he related well to my son also. c) His pictures are nice and it adds a very nice touch to the tour and a differentiator! If I was to come back to Kyoto again and wanted to experience another tour (different places) I would look to use Koichi again. I would recommend him

Relaxed and exciting tour through Kyoto.

Choosing Koichi as guide is definitely a choice I do not regret. He was a very professional guide, delivering all kinds of interesting facts about the visited places and knew good viewing places to experience the shrines and temples in Kyoto in all their glory. And outside of the visits, like during travel or lunch, Koichi is also very easy to talk with. I enjoyed talking to him about various subjects. Having a guide you can feel comfortable while talking with him, made the whole trip very relaxing and pleasent. He is also a great photographer. By taking beautiful pictures, you will always have great memories of that day and all those beautiful shrines and temples. So in short, with Koichi you get a professional, yet very relaxing guide, that really enjoys showing you a part of Kyoto and makes sure, you will remember these memories.
