Meeting Point
Hotel pick-up
- I'll meet you at your hotel, hostel, or a convenient meeting point. Instead of taking a taxi, we'll travel the way many locals do—by daladala or bajaji (depending on the route and your preference). Along the journey, I'll introduce you to your first Swahili words and explain how public transport is part of everyday life in Dar es Salaam.

A Walk Through Everyday Tanzania
We'll explore the streets where local families live, children play, neighbors greet one another, and small businesses keep the community moving. This is everyday Dar es Salaam—the side of the city that most visitors never get to experience.
Along the way, you'll learn useful Swahili phrases and hear stories about daily life in Tanzania.
Meet my neighbors
We'll stop by the homes of people I know who have kindly agreed to welcome visitors. You'll hear their stories, learn about family life in Tanzania, and, if children are around and everyone is comfortable, practice simple Swahili conversations in a fun and natural way.
Everyday Shopping
We'll visit local shops and small businesses where you'll practice asking prices, counting, and using everyday Swahili while seeing how people shop in the neighborhood.
Food at a Mama Ntilie
We'll finish at one of my favorite mama ntilie spots, where delicious home-cooked Tanzanian food is served. You'll order your meal in Swahili, chat with the cook and other locals, and enjoy a relaxed meal together while we talk about life in Tanzania, culture, travel, or anything else you're curious about.

Mwenge wood carving is one of the amaizing places in Dar es Salaam and we are going to see the adorable Tinga Tinga paintings and also see the talent of Makonde art. Whatelse we can find there are goods from fabric to bracelets, necklaces,, sandals and other more drawings.
