The theme of this tour is the life of everyday people. We'll have an easy-going, laid-back kind of walk in the morning, to have the space and time, to take it in, to have the vibe and rush of early life. We'll have food at locally owned businesses, to see how they eat, how they shop, to see a slice of their life. We'll also have a look at the old times, to share stories, jokes, and, if you have me, I would love to hear yours too. Come! We'll experience this city together.

06:30 AM

Meeting Point

The Burning Monk Monument

- As people say, we can not live into the future without looking into the past; it makes us who we are; it is a part of our identity. We'll start with that. A moment of peace looking into a heroic part of our history; a monument of a martyr that still plays a part in everyday life.

07:00 AM

Walking through the alleys and wet markets

Every stall, door, shop, and face has its own story. We'll have an easy walk, to have time to take it in, to feel the hustle vibe in the morning, to smell it, to hear it, to talk about it.

07:40 AM

Having breakfast at local owned businesses

What is one of the best ways to get into a culture? - Of course, it's food. It could be broken rice, Pho, noodles, or sticky rice, depending on the day; they are the things that people would normally eat in the morning to start the day. Sometimes, it's not just merely food; it's a peek into history, the way people adapted for survival.

08:20 AM

The old apartment buildings

The apartment was built after the Tet Offensive of 1968 - one of the bloodiest times during the war; this is another view of the time - an everyday person's point of view. The Buildings have been there for over half a century; people've been living there, having each other's backs through hard times, and some of them still are.

09:00 AM

Having coffee at a grandma's stall

I personally can not see a morning without coffee; we won't miss that, of course. Let's have it in a most casual way, just as the theme of the tour; in a grandma shop, which is right near the buildings, let's have some time to take it in.

09:30 AM

A hidden café in an alley

The ending spot of the tour; let's have some moments to reflect, to share stories, yours and mine. We can talk about all the things in the world: insights about local life, what we concern, what we hope for. And I can't wait to hear yours.

About Tour Guide Danh L.

I'm thinking about why we travel: some looking for fun; but some looking for something they don't know they need in their life; but our instinct is calling for it. Tripping away your familiar routine, your language, and your comfort zone, you let yourself into uncertainty; some discover more about themselves in that uncertainty.

So, what can I do as your tour guide? - to make your trips more comfortable? To provide information? Of course, I can do that. But more than that, I'd like to work more in that "uncertainty".
