La Paternal is a neighborhood located in the central-northwest part of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. It was founded in 1904 by a national decree.

Its name was due, for some, to the request of an Insurance Company "La Paternal", which owned many land in the area, where he built numerous houses for workers. It was named in honor of Diego Armando Maradona, who officially debuted on that pitch on Wednesday, October 20, 1976, at the age of 15, and played there for 5 years in the First Division, who is the second highest historical scorer in the club with 116 annotations.

It was also destiny that many years later, Lionel Messi played for the first time with the Argentine National Team and scored his first goals with the Albiceleste.
