Historic Shanghai with 183 years and Ancient Shanghai with 800 years
About 800 years ago, the common ancestors immigrate to Shanghai and establish Danshui Temple. Several decades later, these ancestors moved their village to a new place. Shanghainese established a town with this place as its center. After the First Opium War, the Qing Empire was forced to sign the Treaty of Nanjing with Great Britain .Under the Land Regulations and Bye-Laws for the Foreign Settlement of Shanghai, a piece of land outside Shanghai walled city was governed by George Balfour.

Jade Buddha Temple
Jade Buddha Temple's original construction was built more than 140 year ago. a Zen(Chan Sect) temple of Chinese Buddhism. A Chinese monk named Hui Gen went to Myanmar where he collected five Jade Buddha status from local overseas Chinese.In 1882, Hui Gen left two statues, which were enshrine in a new temple(Jade Buddha Temple). In 2014, old Jade Buddha Temple was renovated.

Greater Shanghai Plan
Despite winning the 1911 Revolution, Kuomintang failed to dominate international settlement and concession, which was under foreign control. Therefore, Kuomintang set in motion the Greater Shanghai Plan in Jiangwan area for constructing a new administration centre to reconstruct shanghai and replace international settlement. New buildings of Greater Shanghai Plan were required to be constructed and designed within Chinese traditional forms and modern construction techniques.
