Cable car - Teleferico
Enjoy Breathtaking Views from the Quito Cable Car (Teleférico)
We’ll head to one of Quito’s most impressive viewpoints — the Teleférico. This cable car takes you up to more than 4,000 meters (13,000 feet) above sea level, offering spectacular views of the city and the surrounding Andes. On clear days, you’ll have the chance to admire several majestic volcanoes, including Cotopaxi, Cayambe, and Antisana. It’s the perfect spot to take unforgettable photos and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds Quito.
We’ll take a short walk to the swing, but this will depend on how everyone feels, as the altitude can be quite high.
If not, we’ll visit a few viewpoints in the same area, where you can still enjoy amazing landscapes and take great photos.
On our way to the middle of the world
We will then make our way to the Middle of the World, which usually takes about 40 minutes.
Intiñan Museum
Next, we’ll visit the Intiñan Museum, a fun and interactive place located right on the Equator line. This museum combines science, culture, and tradition, offering a unique experience that you won’t find anywhere else.
Here you’ll take part in several hands-on experiments that demonstrate the fascinating effects of being on the Equator — like balancing an egg on a nail, watching water spin in different directions depending on the hemisphere, and testing your balance as you try to walk along the Equator line itself!
The museum also showcases Ecuador’s indigenous cultures, with exhibits that display traditional houses, tools, and customs from various regions of the country. It’s a perfect mix of fun, learning, and local culture — an experience that truly connects you with the spirit of Ecuador.
Middle of the world Monument
Our final stop will be at the Monument to the Middle of the World, an iconic landmark that marks the spot where the Earth is divided into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. This monument honors the 18th-century French Geodesic Mission, which came to Ecuador to determine the true shape of the Earth and locate the Equator line.
Here, we’ll walk along the famous yellow line, taking fun photos with one foot in each hemisphere a moment everyone loves to capture! Inside the monument, you’ll find a beautiful museum that showcases Ecuador’s rich diversity, highlighting the traditions, landscapes, and people from the country’s four main regions: the Andes, the Coast, the Amazon, and the Galápagos Islands.
You’ll also have time to explore the surrounding complex, filled with local shops, cafés, and cultural displays a perfect place to enjoy the lively atmosphere and take home a special memory of your visit to the center of the world.
Return journey to your hotel
After our visit to the Middle of the World, we’ll begin our return trip to your hotel.
The drive back will take approximately 40 minutes, depending on the location of your accommodation and traffic conditions.
It’s the perfect time to relax, enjoy the views of Quito, and reflect on this unforgettable half-day experience at the center of the world.
